By Francis Sadhere, Warri
The newly elected National Treasurer of the Ijaw National Congress (INC) worldwide, Mulade Sheriff, has expressed profound appreciation to stakeholders for their support following his victory at the April 13, 2026 national elections.
Mulade, who holds the traditional title of Ibe-Serimowei of the Gbaramatu Kingdom in Delta State, conveyed his gratitude in a statement, thanking the outgoing INC President, Benjamin Okaba, members of the National Executive Council (NEC), the 2026 National Electoral Commission led by Justice F. F. Tabai, national delegates, and the entire Ijaw nation for the confidence reposed in him.
Describing his emergence as a collective mandate, Mulade said the trust placed in him represents a call to greater responsibility and dedicated service to the congress and the Ijaw people.
He pledged to work closely with members of the newly elected executive council under the leadership of Macdonald Igbadiwei to ensure transparency, accountability, and prudent financial management.
“I am deeply honoured by this mandate and remain committed to upholding the highest standards of accountability in the discharge of my duties,” he stated.
The new treasurer further assured that he would contribute meaningfully toward strengthening the INC and advancing unity, progress, and development across Ijaw communities.
Mulade, a renowned environmentalist and peace advocate, also outlined a broader vision for the congress, emphasizing the need to reposition it beyond a conventional socio-cultural body into a productive platform that delivers tangible economic benefits.
According to him, the INC will focus on creating business opportunities for Ijaw people and the Niger Delta region through initiatives such as establishing farms, developing fishing ports, and expanding corporate and administrative employment opportunities. He added that these goals would be pursued through constructive engagement with multinational companies operating within Ijawland.
He reaffirmed his commitment to supporting initiatives that will enhance the socio-cultural and political aspirations of the Ijaw people while promoting sustainable development in the region.
