An Arabian proverb states that, “He who has health, has hope; and he who has hope, has everything.”

The Governor of Delta State, Rt Hon Sheriff Oborevwori, is currently providing premium health facilities as a way of prioritising improving quality health care to Deltans.

The Governor has consistently reiterated that his M.O.R.E Agenda is not a mere political slogan, but a social contract with Deltans, as he approved 15 hectares of land for the Federal University of Medical and Health Sciences, Kwale in Ndokwa West Local Government Area of the State.

In the lead up to becoming Governor, he promised Deltans to give special attention to the health sector, build more modern health facilities to support existing once as well as upgrade the existing ones to meet the demands of present day health challenges.

His Excellency’s vision is to make Delta State the hub of medical tourism in West Africa and beyond, as he approved the upward review of the contract for the procurement of medical equipment for 20 General Hospitals; as well as the upgrade and equipping of 215 out of 441 Primary Healthcare Centres (PHCs) in the state.

In enhancing the quality of human capital development in the health sector, the State Governor donated a-32 seater Coaster Bus to the College of Nursing Sciences, Onicha-Uku, Aniocha North Local Government Area, (Satellite Campus), of the Federal Medical Centre, Asaba for easy movement of personnel.

The State Governor approved an upward variation of the contract for the remodeling of the uncompleted library building of the Basic Clinical building for the College of Health Sciences, Oghara, Ethiope West Local Government Area.

Governor Sheriff Oborevwori also approved the establishment of a College of Health Technology in Ovrode, Isoko North Local Government Area of the state. The aim is to address the shortage of manpower in the vital health sector.

The State Government under the watch of Oborevwori has also approved the building of a drug rehabilitation centre in Kwale, Ndokwa West Local Government Area of the state, where those affected by drug abuse and harmful use of alcohol could access quality health care services.

In subsidizing healthcare delivery, the Governor has so far paid over N7 billion for the treatment of citizens and residents through the State’s Contributory Health Insurance Scheme.

There is a saying that health is wealth as Oborevwori in keeping faith with Deltans in promoting healthy living is creating wealth for all.
