Delta Beyond Oil competition enters Third Round

Thirty three (33)students from various secondary schools in Delta State have scaled the second stage of the senior secondary school essay and speech competition organised by Hidden Treasures in conjunction with the Ministry of Basic and Secondary Education in the state.

A student of Youwuren College, Jesse Megbaghandu scored ninety five points to lead those who will now enter the third stage of the competition.

The Eighty two students who participated in this round spoke on the topic ‘Resource Control as a sure way to Rapid and Sustainable Development’. The main theme of the Essay competition is Delta Beyond Oil.

Flagging off the competition, Milly-Excellence Emuobo Miller explained that the purpose of the Essay is to help the children strengthen critical thinking, prepare them for the challenges ahead and help them master the use of English as well as oral presentation.

She thanked Delta State Government for the support so far and announced that the next round of the competition comes up on Saturday, 5th April at Hussey College, Warri starting at 10 am.

She also thanked school heads and parents for releasing their children for the competition.

Also speaking, the Media Aide to Governor Uduaghan in Warri Mr. Linus Chima commended organizers of for stimulating healthy competition among students in Delta State.

He said the project will help groom students in Delta State to learn how to research, write and speak in public as well as teach them how to make intelligent contributions to social and national discourse.

More than two hundred students from various schools in Delta State participated in the first stage held in the three senatorial districts of the State.
