Marginalization: Okpaka/Opete Community Cry out neglect

By Our Correspondent

The People of Okpaka, Opete Communities (Urhuegwior) in Udu Local Government area of Delta state have cried out to the Delta state government demanding that their communities be recognized in the scheme of thing before the expiration of Uduaghan led administration.

The Community people through the President General of Okpaka Community, Olorogun Godwin Edoja, while briefing newsmen at his country home in Okpaka, lamented the poor state of performance by the Delta state and Local government since 2011 when Governor Uduaghan assumed office.

He said; “the entire people of Okpaka/Opete (Urhiegwior) have never benefited anything from the government of Dr. Emmanuel Uduaghan since he assume his second term in office from 2011 till date. Even in the local government council, there has been no recognition from the local council. We want stakeholders and indigenes of the communities to be recognized because we gave over 80 percent votes to Governor Uduaghan in 2011 election but uptill now, he has not remembered the People of Okpaka and Opete communities.”

“We have been voting for PDP in the local, state and federal level during elections so we deserve to raise alarm when we are not recognized in the system. Uduaghan has never remembered to attract the dividends of democracy to the door steps of our people despite the numerous alarms being raised by our people in Udu local government.”

“Our people are suffering in abject poverty; no attraction of Micro credit scheme done by the state government, no youth empowerment, no SURE-P benefit, no employment, no political appointment, no single project from the state of local council has being cited in Okpaka community; nothing to write home about.

He therefore appealed to the state government led by Governor Emmanuel Uduaghan to to recognize Okpaka and Opete community in the remaining months of his administration.
