Achike Udenwa, a former governor of Imo state has been arrested by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).

He was arrested May 3, for allegedly receiving N350million which had been diverted from last year’s presidential campaign of former president, Goodluck Jonathan, Sahara Reporters reports.

Udenwa had been listed as one the beneficiaries of the N3.1billion allegedly shared by six Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) chieftains in the build-up to the last year’s presidential elections.

He was grilled for several hours by operatives of the anti-graft agency.

According to sources, the former governor admitted collecting the funds from former finance minister and the director of finance of the Goodluck Jonathan campaign organisation, Esther Nenadi.

Udenwa was later released after signing a bond to repay the funds to the federal government within two weeks.

Recall that Nenadi was arrested on Thursday, April 21, for allegedly receiving the sum of N2.5billion from the Central bank of Nigeria (CBN)

She was said to have confessed that former NSA Sambo Dasuki gave her billions of Naira, from which she paid several party officials.

Usman has reportedly returned N23m to the federal government.
