The Coordinator/CEO of Center for Peace and Environmental Justice (CEPEJ), Comrade Sheriff Mulade has enjoined all Nigerians to replicate the peaceful atmosphere which characterized the Presidential and National Assembly elections on the 28th of March, 2015, in the forthcoming Governorship and State Assembly elections on April 11, in the interest of national development.

In Warri, he commended the courage and statesmanship of President Goodluck Jonathan for showing the good example for others to emulate by accepting defeat gallantly and peacefully, thereby helping to shore up Nigeria’s image in the international community.

“We charged the President-elect, retired General Muhammadu Buhari to take advantage of the peaceful situation to articulate his development plans towards capping the ongoing transformation initiatives of the out-going administration with success,” Comrade Mulade said.

According to him, “It is our strong belief that Nigerian politicians and their supporters will allow peace to prevail in the governorship and state assembly elections in Delta State in particular and in the country in general. Nigerians, indeed Deltans, must realize that we are one people despite our political differences, and therefore, we must not be divided along party lines to the extent of causing mayhem in the remaining part of the general elections.”

He appealed to the youths not to allow overzealous politicians to use them as party thugs to fight or kill political opponents, or to snatch ballot boxes or papers, with the aim of truncating the on-going peaceful electoral process.

The CEPEJ boss noted that without peace and security, no meaningful socio-economic development can be achieved by both the outgoing and in-coming government at all levels, and urged everyone to sustain the prevailing peace situation in the country, as the task of building our dear country Nigeria is a collective responsibility and all hands must be on deck to achieve success at the end.
