Macaulay Distributes Christmas Packages To Widows Across Isoko, Ndokwa Nations

In fulfilment of his yearly humanitarian service commitment to ease the burden of widows and less privileges during the yuletide season, former Secretary to Delta State Government, Comrade (Chief) Ovuozourie Samuel Macaulay, the Okiroro of Isoko Nation, has distributed food items and cash gifts to over 1000 widows across Isoko and Ndokwa Nations in Delta State as part of its 2025 December Widows Outreach.


Comrade Macaulay who is the Chairman of Macaulay Foundation, in his speech during the ceremony expressed deep gratitude to God, stressing that ”the initiative was motivated by compassion and a commitment to support widows who might otherwise struggle to celebrate the Christmas season with joy and dignity.


He revealed that the programme almost did not hold this year, but against all odds, provision was made for over 1000 widows, far exceeding the initial plan of 800 beneficiaries, noting that although he left public office in 2015, his commitment to humanitarian service has remained unwavering, adding that the foundation had only a day earlier on supported widows of fallen Nigeria Police officers within Isoko Nation who died in active service to the nation.
Speaking further, Macaulay prayed for greater capacity hoping to one day extend the programme to 2,000 widows across the entire Isoko nation, urging the widows to remain hopeful and he prayerful.
Addressing broader societal concerns, Comrade (Chief) Macaulay warned that the growing obsession with quick wealth among youths is eroding the moral fabric of Isoko land, stressing the urgent need to redirect young people toward values of dignity, patience, and purpose.
He also called for collective responsibility in securing Nigeria, noting that peace and security are not the sole duties of government but the responsibility of every citizen, irrespective of political affiliation.
Also speaking, Chairman of Isoko North Local Government Area, Chief Godwin Ogorugba, commended Hon. Chief Macaulay for his consistent heart for widows and the vulnerable, describing the initiative as a true reflection of leadership through service. He urged citizens to embrace generosity and compassion, reminding all that “whatever we sow, we reap,” while expressing confidence that Chief Macaulay would reap abundant good for his sacrifices for humanity.
The event was attended by notable leaders and stakeholders, including Hon Elder Emmanuel Ajirioghene Egbabor, former Chairman Isoko North Local Government Council, Chief Kome Okpobor, Executive Director, Finance and Administration on the DESOPADEC Board, Chief Emmanuel Erezih, Executive Assistant to Governor Sheriff Oborevwori on Beautification, Engr. Orobosa Ashaka.
Others are religious leaders led by the Bishops of Ozoro and Oleh Diocese respectively, Rt. Revd Ewomazino Benjamin Idume and Rt. Revd John Usiwoma Aruakpor, All Progressives Congress (APC) chieftains, and community leaders from Isoko North and South as well as Ndokwa Nations.
