Rivers cabinet: Failing to give promised slots to Abe is wicked infidelity – Eze

…Says Abe sacrificed all to give Wike the second term

The refusal by Governor Nyesom Wike to fulfill the agreement of five commissioners and ten special advisers slots to Senator Magnus Abe after all that he sacrificed to give Wike the second term in office as the Executive Governor of Rivers State has been described as unjust, unacceptable, an act of ungratefulness and wicked betrayal.

A key stakeholder in the politics of Rivers state and a chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Chief Eze Chukwuemeka Eze, who stated this in a statement issued and circulated in Port Harcourt on Tuesday, noted that Senator Abe’s role in making the governor’s second term a reality was beyond measure, adding that he sacrificed everything, including the trust of his primary benefactor, Rt. Hon. Dr. Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi.

Eze, who is a close friend of Senator Abe, said the senator, in a bid to favour Wike and his party, the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), betrayed his own party, the APC and its leadership by ensuring that the party and its candidates were denied their due rights to feature in the recent general elections, all in the bid to ensure that Wike ran the election without a contest or opposition.

“Senator Abe didn’t only deliver on his part of the bargain by ensuring that the APC didn’t field any candidate for the 2019 general elections, but exceeded his mandate by ensuring that all the Ogonis fielded by other political parties as either as Gubernatorial candidates or Deputy governorship candidates were dismantled before the elections accordingly.

“The case of the sad strategy adopted to frustrate the African Action Congress’ (AAC) deputy governorship, Akpo Bomba Yeeh, an Ogoni man before the election, simply showed the genius of Senator Abe in mischievous politics. Frustrating Action Party, whose deputy governorship candidate, Mr. Precious Baridoo, and the Social Democratic Party’s (SDP) Christopher Udume, who are also both from the Ogoni, was a child’s play in the politics of Wike and Abe to ensure that the opposition didn’t have any footing in the politics of Rivers state.

“All these keep me wondering how a man who took all these risks to clear the political roads and obstacles for Governor Wike to emerge as Governor of Rivers State couldn’t be compensated accordingly and the five slots of commissioners promised him not be fulfilled. Anyways, I want to assure Senator Abe and his misguided cohorts that I will not rest until he obtains justice, no matter the odds.

Eze who, right from the beginning of his days in politics, fought against the third term plot of General Olusegun Obasanjo, the Presidency of Dr. Jonathan Goodluck when he diverted from the path of good governance and all the injustices meted to Rt. Hon. Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi, assured Abe that he will not sit and watch all his efforts to install Governor Nyesom Wike as the governor Rivers state to go in vain.

He commended Abe for rejecting the one slot of commissionership and two advisers that Governor Wike decided to alot to him instead of the agreed five commissioner slots, saying “I support him wholeheartedly in this regard and collectively we can struggle to ensure that he gets what is due to him, no matter whatever game the governor will come up with.

“It is saddening that after all that the Ogoni did to assist Governor Wike

to retain the office of governor for a second term, the only way he could thank them is to remove their son who was the Secretary to the State Government and deny their son, Abe, what he sacrificed to ensure that APC was not able to field candidate in the 2019 elections”, he said.

Eze pleads with Governor Wike to consider the fact that with President Buhari concluding his Ministerial list coupled with the fact that the Senate will by today concludes the screening of these Ministers Nominees both from Rivers and Lagos States axis without the name of our dear brother, Senator Abe, Wike should do the needful and accommodate our good friend accordingly or else he should tell me how he expects Abe to manage the thousands of our political leaders and youths that followed him in this unfortunate political journey.

He finally pleaded with Wike to reconsider the injustice and revert back to the earlier agreement to avoid the disintegration of the PDP in the state before the 2023 general elections, saying “we still need the party intact to stand and to be voted out democratically”.
