MAGU: OKOTIE-EBOH CALLS ON NASS TO TACKLE BURNING NATIONAL ISSUES
By Tejiri Ebikeme
THE Chairman, People for Peace and Justice Initiative (PFPAJI) Mr Emmanuel Okotie-Eboh has called on the National Assembly ( NASS) to tackle burning national issues threatening the unity of the country rather than flexing muscles with the Presidency over the confirmation of the Acting Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), Ibrahim Magu.
In Warri, Delta State, Mr Okotie-Eboh, a farmer and son of Nigerian first Finance Minister, Chief Festus Okotie-Eboh, implored members of the National Assembly to add their voices to the clamour for restructuring, secession threat and quit notice by the Arewa youths to the Igbo.
“Our distinguished members of the National Assembly should face important issues almost tearing the country apart than wasting time on EFCC and Ibrahim Magu, this kind of leadership we are experiencing at the National Assembly is what is giving the likes of IPOB Leader, Nnamdi Kanu the opportunity to be crying over MASSOB, restructuring, secession threat and hate speeches.”, he said.
According to him also;” So, our Senators should add their voices to issues that will bring peace to the country, not Magu, but Nnamdi Kanu and his likes. The way things are going, we are the people that need to restructure ourselves first before we can now think of restructuring the country because we are our own enemies”.
“This showdown between the Senate and the Presidency over the Acting Chairman of the EFCC, Ibrahim Magu is not want we want right now. When people are talking about Cancer, the Senators are talking about pimples. Nothing is being said about burning national issues that is about to consume all of us. We must show the whole world that we are serious people”, he averred.
Mr Okotie-Eboh enjoined the Senate to move fast to end what he described as negative agitations in East , West , North South, adding that; “Let there be pease in the country”.
He said that Prof Itse Sagey was right when he recently said that since the passage of the likes of Awolowo , Azikwe ,Ahmadu Bello , Nigerians have not been lucky enough to have highly principled, consistent , committed men of great integrity and honour until President Muhammadu Buhari and Vice President Osinbajo came on board.
