By Francis
Acting Chairman of Uvwie Local Government Area of Delta State, Hon. (Chief) Mrs. Stella Otiotio Daboner today denied ever being suspended by the house, stressing that she still remains the acting chairman of the council.
Chief Daboner who spoke through her Special Assistant, Mr. Oghenetega Ikpen, called for calm, noting that her alleged suspension legislative Arm of the council is null and void.
She said her purported suspension by the legislative arm of the council did not follow due process and cannot be said to be backed by the law.
“I still remain the Acting Chairman of Uvwie Council Area. I am not aware of any suspension by members of the Legislative Arm of the council. As you can see, I am in my office attending to official matters. So whatever they did, they did out of the law and so therefore should be disregarded by the good people of Uvwie council area,” she said.
She therefore, called on the people of the council area to go about their lawful businesses and report any breach of peace to the relevant security agencies.
Also Speaking to our correspondent in Warri, the leader of Uvwie Legislative Arm, Hon. Gabriel Ariayire said the house has been divided into two factions some of which are sympathetic to the embattled Chairman, Hon. Henry Baro.
Ariayire stressed that the house has earlier passed a vote of confidence on the Acting Chairman of the council because she has been handling the affairs of the council very well.
He, however, called on all aggrieved parties to allow the Delta State House of Assembly to do It’s work, adding that he believed that at the end of the day everything will be resolved amicable.
