UPU Disowns Use Of It’s Logo In Political Campaign For Omo Agege’s Reception

… Says It’s Non-Partisan

The Urhobo Progress Union (UPU) Worldwide led by Chief Ese Gam Owe Esq.strongly condemn the unauthorized use of the logo of the apex socio-cultural organization of Urhobo nation in political campaign for Sen. Ovie Omo Agege proposed reception rally saying that the body is non-partisan.
In a statement signed by Dr. Kehinde P. Taiga, National Publicity Secretary, UPU Worldwide made available to Reformeronline, the body frowned at a situation where its name is dragged into campaign materials circulating in respect of the planned political reception for Senator Ovie Omo- Agege to be held later this month in Delta State.
According to Dr. Taiga, “the use of the UPU logo, name, or insignia in the announcement and campaign materials for the said event is misleading, unauthorized, and unacceptable.”
Dr. Taiga said that the UPU is a socio-cultural organization established to protect and promote the collective interest, unity, and development of the Urhobo nation, adding , “the UPU is not associated with political activities- rallies, campaigns- of any political party or an individual.
“The UPU is non-partisan and does not endorse or associate itself with the political activities, rallies, or campaigns of any political party or individual.”
The UPU then warned any person or group of persons involved in the said act to immediately desist from further use of the UPU logo or identity in connection with the political event or any other one.
The UPU Spokesman added, “members of the public are hereby advised to disregard any impression that the UPU is sponsoring, endorsing, or participating in the said political campaign.
“The UPU remains committed to its constitutional role as a non-partisan socio-cultural body. We would continue to maintain neutrality in all political matters as regards Urhobo people in particular and Delta State in general.”
