Ughelli South United Forum Pays A Courtesy Visit To Amori

The Chief Adviser to the Governor of Delta State, Senator Chief Ighoyota Amori, has today reaffirmed his commitment to grassroots political mobilization and inclusive governance following a courtesy visit from the Ughelli South United Forum at his office in Asaba.

The delegation, led by Chief Godwin Okporoko, paid the visit to congratulate Chief Amori on his recent appointment and to pledge their unwavering support for the administration of His Excellency, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori.

Speaking on behalf of the forum, Chief Michael Oshetigho acknowledged Chief Amori’s political experience and dedication to the development of Delta State. He emphasized the forum’s readiness to work closely with the government in advancing the MORE Agenda—the governor’s blueprint for meaningful governance.

According to Chief Oshetigho, the 11 wards in Ughelli South are well represented within the forum, with two members from each of the 20 executive bodies of the local wards actively involved. He further underscored their collective resolve to strengthen the PDP’s hold in the area ahead of the 2027 elections.

“We are here as your loyal supporters, standing solidly behind your leadership. We want you to see our faces and recognize our commitment. We worked tirelessly in the 2023 elections that brought this administration into office, and now that you have been appointed, we trust that you will remember our efforts,” he stated.

Forum Chairman, Hon. Godwin Okporoko, praised Chief Amori for his leadership within Urhobo land, noting that he had played a pivotal role in elevating many individuals to influential positions in government. He reiterated that the group remains committed to strengthening the PDP’s presence in Ughelli South.

“As our leader, you have always ensured that Urhobo people have a voice in government. You made everyone see Delta as one and encouraged unity in governance. You have supported the emergence of House of Assembly members, commissioners, and other political officeholders.” Okporoko stated.

The Treasurer of the forum, Chief Charles Kwode, assured Chief Amori that the group is actively working to reconcile and reintegrate party members who had left the PDP due to various grievances.

Similarly, Chief Josephine Oduaran and Prince Steve Ovedje echoed the same sentiment, affirming their loyalty to the administration and their commitment to strengthening the party’s grassroots structure.

In his response, Chief Ighoyota Amori expressed his deep appreciation for the visit and reassured the delegation of his dedication to ensuring that their concerns are addressed.

“I must commend Ughelli South for its unwavering support for the PDP. Your contributions to the party’s growth are invaluable. Just two days ago, I brought up these very concerns with the governor—not even knowing you would visit me today with the same issues,” he said.

Chief Amori emphasized that the era of political complacency was over, stating that only those who actively work for the party will benefit from its success.

“This time around, no one will sit at home and expect to dictate political affairs. Leadership must be grassroots-oriented, and that is exactly what you are demonstrating through this forum. This office is fully committed to delivering Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori for re-election in 2027,” he declared.

Furthermore, Chief Amori revealed his plans to embark on a statewide tour of all 25 local government areas, visiting each ward to sensitize the people on the governor’s achievements and the importance of political participation.

“The governor is doing exceptionally well, and I will take this message to every ward in the state. People need to see and understand the progress we are making, and I will ensure that this gospel is preached everywhere,” he added.

At the conclusion of the visit, the Ughelli South United Forum passed a vote of confidence in the administration of Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori, reiterating their loyalty and commitment to ensuring the continued success of the PDP in Delta State.

This visit further cements Chief Amori’s influence as a unifying force within Delta politics, positioning him as a key strategist in the buildup to 2027.
