Troops Rescue Kidnapped Hostages In Coordinated Operation, Intensifies Efforts To Apprehend Killers Of 18 Soldiers In Delta
In a display of swift and decisive action, troops of Operation Hadarin Daji, in collaboration with local authorities and government agencies, successfully rescued 16 kidnapped pupils (Almajiris) and a woman who were abducted by terrorists in Gada Local Government Area of Sokoto State on 9 March 2024.
The hostages were rescued on 21 March 2024 following a meticulously planned search and rescue operation, highlighting the unwavering commitment of the Nigerian military to ensuring the safety and security of all citizens. The rescued individuals have been handed over to the Sokoto State Government for further care and necessary actions.
Major General Edward Buba, Director of Defence Media Operations, in a statement, emphasized the military’s dedication to locating and rescuing all innocent hostages held captive by terrorists.
“The armed forces remain resolute in their pursuit of the perpetrators behind these heinous acts, and will continue their efforts until all hostages are safely rescued and the criminals are brought to justice under Nigerian law,” Major General Buba said.
In a related development, Buba said that troops are intensifying their efforts to apprehend those responsible for the brutal killings of 18 soldiers in Okuama Community, Delta State, on 14 March 2024. He added that to bolster these efforts, the military has released banners featuring wanted terrorists and their accomplices, which will be strategically deployed across the country.
He urged members of the public to cooperate with authorities and report any information that could lead to the arrest of these wanted individuals.
He said the deployment of the banners were aimed to facilitate the swift identification and apprehension of the suspects, reinforcing the military’s unwavering commitment to combating terrorism and ensuring national security.
The Nigerian military stands firm in its resolve to maintain peace and security across the country, and will leave no stone unturned in the pursuit of justice for victims and their families.
