TISUN COMMUNITY WOMEN ISSUES 14-DAY ULTIMATUM TO CHEVRON OVER BREACH OF AGREEMENT

The Concerned Tisun Community Women Group, CTCWG, in Warri North LGA of Delta State has issued a 14-day ultimatum to oil major, Chevron Nigeria Limited, CNL, to recall two (2) staff of a contracting firm recently disengaged in total disregard to the resolutions and agreement reached with the community elders.

In a letter addressed to the Area Manager, CNL Warri office and dated 31 May, 2024, signed by Madam Evelyn Omajugho (Women Leader), Mrs. Phileta Ebrohimi, Secretary and Madam Grace Abaje Assist Women Leader respectively, they called for a halt of a planned disengagement of two (2)Tisun indigenes working for a Contractor, Aursmon Nigeria Limited which planned action was confirmed recently by the disengagement of Messrs Erhahon Augusta Sisan and Amaye Suzy Toritse against the agreement and resolutions reached with the community elders at the meeting held on April 18th, 2024.

The women group stated that at the said meeting it was agreed that all staff of Aursmon Nigeria Limited would be retained and transfered to a new contractor, but expressed dismay that CNL, by their disengagement of both staff recently has already defaulted, saying “this is totally unacceptable. It amount to gross injustice against us, a recipe for anarchy that we are very prepared for engage in with all legal avenue open to us”, they warned.

“We insist on the recall of the disengaged staff for peace to reign or you shall meet us with the desired results of your refusal to halt the planned disengagement within 14-day from now”.

They called on the relevant security authorities to call Chevron to order by intervening urgently and copied the Presidency, office of the Senate President, Speaker of the House of Representatives, Governor Oborevwori and the Olu of Warri respectively.
