Nigeria will never progress if corruption is not reduced – Engr Orugbo

*** Blames Political Class For The Backwardness of The Nation

*** Tasks Youths To Shun Fraudulent Activities And Use Same Energy To Create Products That Will Turn Them To Billionaires.

The EXECUTIVE CHAIRMAN, O-SECUL GROUP OF COMPANIES , Engr. Mike Orugbo (JP), has said that unless corruption was reduced to the barest minimum in the country, Nigeria will never experience progress.

Engr Orugbo who said this during an exclusive interview with our Correspondent at his country home in Udu Local Government Area of Delta, noted that corruption has eaten too deep into the fabric of the country, adding that corruption is the biggest problem in the country.

Engr Orugbo who clocked 70 years on Saturday, April 13th, 2024, said he felt sorry for himself as a Nigerian because despite the fact that Nigeria is blessed with so many natural and human resources, Nigerians have continued to wallow in abject poverty.

To make Nigeria’s economy to become one of the most vibrant in the world, Engr Orugbo said the Federal Government must make concerted efforts in fighting secret societies in the country, stating that most politicians are into one secret cult or the other, thereby diverting their allegiance from the country to their secret societies.

Engr Orugbo, a leading EPIC and Human Capital Development Professional with over 28 years experience in engineering services in the Oil and Gas Industry, lamented that today the Warri refinery was not working even after several billions of naira have been spent on it in the name of turnaround maintenance.

He retiraited that when the Warri refinery was built it was Nigerians that made the refinery to run beyond 100% of its total capacity, adding that; “Nigerians also supervised the initial turnaround maintenance successfully until we got to this level where we have lost moral value.”

“It is corruption that is killing the Warri refinery. God has blessed us with so many things. We have the population, for all the resources we require for development or for life, or for any business to grow, the human resource is the most important one.

” So if you are able to manufacture something, the market is there. Then of course, God has blessed us with a lot of mineral resources and solid minerals. Has equally blessed us with land, good weather to farm and feed ourselves.

“But I feel sorry for myself as a Nigerian, because we have refused to be patriotic. We have refused to aspire to lead for the purpose of demonstrating our patriotism,” Engr Orugbo sadly expressed.

Engr Orugbo also blamed the political class for the backwardness the country is going through saying that politicians are only interested in looting the treasury of the country just as he faulted the way elections were done in the country.

“Why must you bribe people to vote for you? Why must you kill people to vote for you? That means you are going there, because you want to steal.

“Any politician that has sponsored thugs, acquired arms and bought votes, for me, that person is going there to steal. When people want you to serve, let them invite you to come and serve. Why do you need to fight and kill yourselves because you want to serve the people

“When we want to do elections, the whole country will be shut down. It is as if we are preparing for war when you see military men and police. And at the end of the day, results that will come out are questionable. Unlike other countries, where people go about their normal duties when the elections are going on.

Engr Orugbo a COREN certified Engineer who is also a corporate member of the Nigerian Society of Engineers, advised Nigerian youths to be focused and channel their God given talents to contribute positively to the development of the country, saying rather than get themselves involved in Internet scam, the youths should use the same energy to create products that will make them billionaires.

“Our youths should be focused. They should not see themselves as people without a future. They have a future, God has given them talents that they can make good use of, to better themselves and the country

“Our youths should concentrate on how they can use the knowledge God has given to them to make things happen. Just as we hear of young professionals, especially in the IT business, that are now multi-billionaires in dollars. They have engaged themselves tightly in the development of apps which has wide markets in its applications and are doing well.

“But unfortunately, our Youths are using their knowledge in this same IT business to steal people’s money., Stealing pants from girls to go and consult oracles. Then the wicked, foolish Nigerians who specialize on how they can empower them to do devilish things will encourage them to continue in their wicked acts,” Engr Orugbo lamented.

Speaking on his foundation, Onameyori Foundation, set up in living memory of his mother who died when he was just twelve years old, Engr Orugbo said that the foundation has been able to give scholarships to indigent students of Udu local government area.

He said that some few months ago, the foundation empowered some women who went home with about five hundred thousand naira to set up their own businesses.

According to Engr Orugbo the foundation just recently donated medical drugs to six health centers in Udu local government area as part of assisting the health centers who he said sometimes lack drugs.

Engr Orugbo said that the foundation which is very much alive is willing to do more for the society, saying that with God on their side they would reach more people in the coming years.

Engr Orugbo who is also vastly experienced in engineering services, consultancy and support systems in the oil and gas industry, said his believe in God has brought him this far and advised Nigerians to always put their faith in God and always do what they can to serve humanity.

He noted that he wants his family and friends and well wishers to always be around him now that he has attained the Biblical three scores and ten.
