TIDI APPEALS TO ALL TO PUT WARRI IN THE RIGHT PERSPECTIVE TO ATTRACT INVESTORS

Dr. Michael Tidi, chairman, Warri South Local Government Council has appealed to all to say and write good things in the right perspective about the oil rich city of Warri just as he called comedians plying their trades to crack positive jokes about Warri not the negatives stories that makes people to be scared of the area.
The council boss made this call while receiving the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Warri Correspondents Chapel in his office, he said that negative stories people say about Warri is telling on the overall development of the area..
Dr. Tidi pleaded that members of the NUJ should help tell the true story about warri as people outside the state now have bad and/or negative impression of warri land, he disclosed that there are good things to talk and write about in Warri land and not the lies people peddle about the land.
He also disclosed that the reason Ugbuwangue Market has not been officially opened is because of the plethora of litigations.
Dr. Tidi who was flanked by his Warri South-West counterpart, Hon. Taiye Tuoyo Dere further disclosed that Ugbuwangue and Ogbe-ijoh Markets were handed over to the Council by the Delta State Government.
The Warri South Council boss also noted that the Ugbuwangue market was renovated by the Council to the standard it is, Dr. Tidi said,”Very soon, we will evacuate illegal occupants and allocate to peoplle adding that that some persons have been encroaching on lands belonging to the Council, he spoke further, “we have taken them to Court to recover what really belongs to the Council.”
Dr. Tidi who noted that the Council has so many issues it is contending with, appealed to Journalists to help tell positive stories about the City of Warri, he added, “in no distance time we will be commissioning some of our project, we will invite you guys to come on board, and preparations for the second edition of the Warri Economic Summit is on going, we also bring it out in up to speed. But again help us tell the good stories about Warri to help attract investors. We have so many good things about Warri.”
According to him, “”those wrong narratives we should be able to correct, those negative words, we should be able to correct. Please you have to help me. I keep telling the comedians whenever I see them that they should please as a matter of fact, if you must crack your jokes, please say positive things about Warri. Enough of this negative things because yes it’s telling on us.”
Dr. Tidi added, “about a month ago I was in Abuja and by chance, I met this Commissioner from Plateau State, some one introduce us. You know and he was like ehh, Are you sure that you are the Warri South Council Chairman? I said yes na. He said Warri South ? I said yes. Why do you ask? Warri wey we dey hear for north? I said yes na. What about it? That he was thinking the Warri Local Government Chairman will come with dreadlocks, looking so rugged. You know. But I was able to talk to him. And let him know that we have so many good things you can talk of and write about in Warri So please let’s tell the right story about this land, Warri, investors you know are running away from the land not because the enabling environment is not on ground but because of negative stories told about the place.”
Dr. Tidi said that, “If you help Warri South, you have helped Warri South-West, if help Warri South-West, you have help Warri-North, beause nobody knows which one is wish.”
