Rivers APC Condemns Wike’s Invasion of Semenitari’s Residence

The Rivers State Chapter of the All Progressives Congress, APC, has condemned yesterday’s, Gestapo style invasion of the residence of the immediate past Rivers State Commissioner for Information, Mrs. Ibim Semenitari, No. 12A Ernest Ikoli Street, Old G.R.A, Port Harcourt, which was allegedly ordered by Governor Nyesom Wike.
“As part of that assault, the governor’s team made up of over 10 fully armed policemen, without any warrant of any nature, forcefully entered the property and eventually took away a Lexus jeep duly allocated to Mrs Semenitari as Commissioner for Information and which, by law, she is entitled to leave with upon leaving office under the government’s Monetisation Policy” a statement signed by the party’s spokesman, Mr. Chris Finebone declosed.
The statement read full:
“Despite, explanations offered by the erstwhile government official by telephone, the team insisted they were acting on the orders of Governor Nyesom Wike which clearly wanted them to take the vehicle to Government House, Port Harcourt. In the process of forcefully entering and removing the Lexus jeep, they caused extensive damage to the property and another private SUV in the premises”.
“The APC would like to recall that what is happening now is a pen picture of the true person, character and antecedents of the man called Nyesom Wike”.
“We recall that this is exactly the template Nyesom Wike employed against the former officials of the administration of Celestine Omehia as soon as Rt. Hon. Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi assumed office as Governor on 25th October, 2007”.
“A few days after he was appointed Government House Chief of Staff by the then Governor Amaechi, Nyesom Wike launched a most vicious attack on the former Commissioners of Celestine Omehia in the guise of recovering stolen vehicles and other properties. He would move with a team of fully-armed soldiers and policemen and invade the homes of former Commissioners and officials of Celestine Omehia from 3 am, leaving destruction and anguish behind”.
“Incidentally, one of those who bore the brunt of Wike’s assault then was Emma Okah whom he swore in as Commissioner for Housing last week”.
“Former Governor Amaechi had to call Wike to order, educating him that the provisions of government Monetisation Policy empowered government officials to own duly allocated vehicles on leaving office. It was that timely intervention by his boss that caused Wike to desist from continuing with his wicked scheme at that time”.
“It appears to the APC that Nyesom Wike has returned to his old rule books of malfeasance. But we believe his reign of terror, reminiscent of someone with a low self-esteem, will become a thing of the past soon”.
