AS part of her Corporate Social Responsibility(CSR) to host Communities within which it operates, AYM Shaffa Energy Limited has donated a brand new 500KVA Transformer to the Utunwa Ifiekporo community in Warri South LGA of Delta State.
Making the donation on behalf of Shaffa Energy, Saturday 25th May, 2024, the depot manager, Mr. Jumat Raji said they are “committed to empowering communities and fostering sustainable development as part of our on-going efforts to contribute positively to the society we operate within”.
He noted that reliable electricity is the backbone of modern society and the donation aims to ensure that Utunwa Ifiekporo community can access power and improve the quality of life.
According to Jumat, “we believe that through this transformer, we can help to ignite economic growth, enhance educational opportunities and provide a brighter future for all because the transformer is designed to meet the highest standards of safety and efficiency” even as he charged them to ensure its security and maintenance for their general good.
The depot manager disclosed that the transformer has been bought over a year ago but a suitable site to locate it has been the challenge until only now, saying that “the community requested for just Transformer which we have gladly provided. It’s now left for them to power it for their use as agreed”.
Receiving the donation, the Ifiekporo community Trust Chairman, Prince Peter Ede and Light Committee Chairman, Mr. Eyesan Bright express appreciation to the Board and management of AYM Shaffa for the gesture in replacing the old faulty Transformer in the community but appealed to them to go a step further in assisting the Utunwa Ifiekporo community in hooking it up to the National grid through PHCN because of the cost implications so that the community can start enjoying the benefits of the donation.
Both leaders expressed the opinion that the transformer alone amount to a gifting a GSM phone without a SIM card, saying the community has remain in darkness for too long with economic and social activities stagnated.
