RETURN OUR LOOTED PROPERTIES: DELTA COMMUNITIES TELL NIGERIA ARMY
By Francis Sadhere
The Joint Military Task Force, codenamed ‘’Operations Pulo Shield’’, has been called upon to return all looted items from Oporoza Town, Gbaramatu Kingdom, Warri South-West local Government Area.
This call was contained in a press statement by Comrade Sheriff Mulade, Chairman of Kokodiagbene community.
He described the manner in which the Nigerian military looted their property as “unpatriotic, unethical and unprofessional for the Nigeria Army who invaded Oporoza and other Ijaw communities in search of vandals and militants bombing oil and gas facilities to abandoned their primary responsibility to fish out the perpetrators of this heinous act and resorting into looting of items belonging to Pere’s Palace and law abiding citizen within the community.”
He also alleged that the Nigeria Army has looted valuable goods worth over N300,000,000 and cash about N70,000,000 meant for the completion of the Pere’s Palace, appealing to the Chief of Army Staff, Brig. Gen. Tukur Burutai to probe his men and recover the looted items from the palace and other residents and kindly return them to the law abiding citizen of Oporoza.
The statement reads, “We believe the Nigeria Army has the capacity to thoroughly investigate and bring the looters to book for the image of Nigeria Army, as law abiding citizen; we have no option than to institute a suit against the authority to recover our items, if the authority fails.
“According to the JTF, the operations, named cordon and search, was aimed at unmasking the militants and vandals, which the authority has failed to arrest and parade any of the Avengers but rather parading innocent youths in the Niger Delta to cover up their failures. Who continue to perpetrating the heinous crimes by destroying our environment and brought untold hardship to us.”
It further said that the continuous visits are posing serious threats to the communities, adding, “We are living in fear and bondage. Gbaramatu kingdom is hosts to oil and gas facilities and not to Avengers’’, Comrade Sheriff Mulade, Chairman of Kokodiagbene community said.
“Fears continue to grip the resident of Oporoza that before the Army left Oporoza Town they have planted incriminating items (weapons) and Security gadget within the community in other to implicate the people as an evident to enable them lunch attack on the peace loving people of Gbaramatu Kingdom.
“The communities therefore draw attention of the President Muhammadu Buhari and International Community to the proposed plan by the Nigeria Army. We are strongly appealing to the Nigeria Army to leave the law abiding citizen of Gbaramatu kingdom alone and go for the Pipe Vandals and Militants. We don’t know them,” he added.
