Pipeline Security: Group Warns Against Blackmailing Kachikwu
…Claims Minister Working With Stakeholders To End Vandalisation Of Pipeline
…Says Blackmailers Ran Out Of Ideas On Kachikwu
An oil monitoring group, the Niger Delta Indigenous Movement For Radical Change (NDIMRC) has warned against the blackmailing of the Minister of State for Petroleum Resources, Dr Ibe Emmanuel Kachikwu over Pipeline Security Contract.
An online report had accused the Minister of squandering millions of dollars on Pipeline Security.
According to the report, the Minister awarded security contracts to incompetent friends and family members. The report also alleged that the Minister abandoned his wife and children for another woman.
But in a swift reaction, NDIMRC in a press statement signed by its President, Nelly Emma, Secretary, John Sailor and Public Relations Officer (PRO), Stanley Mukoro, absorbed the Minister of the sea of accusations levelled against him.
The Minister, according to the group is working with relevant Stakeholders in the Niger Delta Region to end vandalisation of oil Pipeline, adding that he would soon deploy modern technology to bury pipelines out of the reach of vandals.
The group said that; “We are surprised that some Stakeholders in the Oil and Gas Industry are at it again, they have refused to see anything good in the Petroleum Resources Minister. We should allow the Minister to remain focused on his national assignment. These unnecessary distractions from some disgruntled Stakeholders in the Oil and Gas Industry are not healthy in our present situation in the country.”
While rising to the defence of the Minister, the group averred that; “It is not true that the Minister awarded Pipeline Security Contract to incompetent friends and family members. The Minister has been very transparent in all his dealings in the industry since he was appointed.”
“The Minister for Petroleum Resources that we know never awarded Pipeline Security Contact to incompetent friends and family members. The records are there for everybody to see. The blackmailers are at work again because they are not happy that the Minister has brought stability to the oil and gas sector. All allegations against the Minister in the online report are cheap lies against the God-fearing Minister who wants the best for the Oil and Gas Industry”, the group said.
According to the group also; ” We are amazed that the Minister is being accused of squandering state funds amounting to millions of dollars on Pipeline Security. It is very laughable for these well known blackmailers to say that members of the Niger Delta Avengers destroyed pipelines few weeks after the Minister awarded security contract to incompetent friends and family members. The demands of the Niger Delta Avengers are in the public domain. People should stop painting the Minister in bad light; he should be encouraged. We are imploring Nigerians to ignore these baseless accusations against the Minister. We know where they are coming from and we know their selfish reasons too. The blackmailers have vested interests in the Oil and Gas Industry and ready to do everything and anything to frustrate the dynamic Minister.”
“These blackmailers are talking out of points; they have ran out of ideas on what to accuse the Minister of. The vandalisation of our oil pipelines has been on for the past 15 years in the industry and the Minister has taken the bull by the horns as he will soon engage community leaders and other stakeholders in the region on the protection of our pipelines and he is also set to deploy a modern technology that will put our pipelines out of the reach of vandals. The Minister is creating a good relationship with the relevant stakeholders in the oil-rich Niger Delta Region aimed at securing our pipelines from vandals. The Minister also working closely with President Buhari for the rapid development of the Region”,the group added.
It also said that; “The Minister being hated for no reason is committed to the Change President Muhammadu Buhari promised Nigerians and he is doing everything possible not to disappoint the President and Nigerians. Dr Kachikwu that we know very well, is a man with foresight and his Reform in NNPC is hurting these blackmailers for they have skeletons in their cupboard and still thinking that it is still going to be business as usual.”
“This sponsored online report about the Minister is uncalled for and unacceptable to us. People must resist change and this is what these blackmailers who must apologise to the Minister for the cheap lies against him have exhibited. But Nigerians are too familiar with the tricks and selfish motivated interests of these blackmailers and therefore they must be ignored by Nigerians”.
Dismissing the allegation that the marriage of the Minister has packed up, the group said that; “Bringing the personal life of the Minister to the public is improper, malicious, petty and the height of the blackmail. The marriage of the Minister is intact as he is a responsible, committed, and a happy married man. The Minister is a darling husband, a loving father and a complete gentleman. People should stop spreading unfounded rumour and they should end the blackmail and witch hunt of the Minister. Hate against the Minister will never win.”
