The Governorship Candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Rivers State for the February 28, 2015 election, Dr. Dakuku Adol Peterside, has strongly condemned the alleged plot by the opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to sack non-indigenes from the State Civil Service if it happens to win the governorship poll.
He also reacted with horror to leaked plot by the party to withdraw all non-indigenes on scholarship and take over their business centres if the prize of oil in the international market does not stabilize before May 2015, thus resulting in continued reduced Federal Allocation to the State.
“I am at a loss as to what non-indigenes who have lived all their lives in Rivers State and pay their taxes did to warrant this type of treatment. We thank God that with the support of Rivers State people PDP’s wicked plots against the non-indigenes will not come to pass as collectively we can frustrate the evil enterprise by voting against all PDP candidates come February, 2015,” Peterside said on Monday at Rivers State APC Campaign Head Office on Forces Avenue, Port Harcourt.
The APC gubernatorial candidate, who spoke while inaugurating his campaign committees, assured all the non-indigenes in Rivers State that they will not only have a rosy future if he is elected the next Rivers State Governor but will indeed play a very crucial role in his administration. “I will sustain the policy initiated by my mentor and leader, Governor Chibuike Amaechi, to make the non-indigenes group the 24th Local Government Area of Rivers State. This unit is to cater for the welfare and interests of all non-indigenes in the State,” he said.
Dr. Peterside used the opportunity to formally present his Four-Point Agenda described as “Road Map to Prosperity” to the people of Rivers State. He explained that the Four-Point Agenda aimed at taking Rivers State to the next level include Public Sector Accountability and Security of Lives and Properties; Employment Generation and Wealth Creation; Social and Human Capital Development and Empowerment; as well as Institutional and Physical infrastructure Development and Food Security.
The frontline governorship candidate emphasised that the choice before Rivers State has never been as crystal clear as it is for the 2015 polls. “It is a choice between darkness and light, good and evil, justice and injustice; it is clear to all that APC through me represents the light, the good and justice,” he stated.
Dr Davies Ibiamu Ikanya, the Rivers State APC Chairman, who assisted Dr Peterside to inaugurate the campaign committees, charged the members to go out and mobilise the voters to vote for the right candidate during the election. He described the forthcoming election as “a battle of Christians and occultic interests,” vowing: “We cannot allow occultic people to triumph over the forces of good. Such cannot happen in our lifetime as our children will not forgive us for such a blunder.”
A total of 14 campaign committees comprising of 350 members were charged to mobilise Rivers people to vote wisely during the election were inaugurated during the event. They are as follows: Prayer Support Committee; Advisory Council; Mobilisation/Volunteers Coordination; Protocol/Advance; Special Outreach; Security Surveillance; Voluntary Civil Service Society; New Media/IT; Transportation/Logistics; Research/Strategy and Surveys; Communication; Field Operations/Rally; Fund Raising; and Special Committee on Legal Matters.
