INCOMPETENCE, POOR INFORMATION, MAJOR SETBACKS TO INSECURITY -Ex-DSS Boss

The Former Director of Nigeria’s Department of State Security, (DSS), Mr. Adebayo Babalola has identified lack of capable and poor information circulation as  major challenges to security and intelligence gathering in our society.

He Made the submission at a public lectures titled “intelligence and Nigeria’s National Security “the challenges and prospects at the Igbinedion University Okada Edo State.

While addressing the large crowed, Mr Babalola disclosed that the security in our society must be seen as everybody’s business.

“The lack of information by security agencies and every individual in the society is compounding the security situation, adding, security situation has been further compounded by non participation of non state actors.

The Ex-DSS Gaffer maintained that security and health is a major concern bedevilling the society, while urging all to come together to proffer a solution to put in place working security process.

He further opined that, all hands must be on deck as security is everybody business, so we should not feel it’s the duties of government  and security officers alone, we can also assist in our own way by providing community policing in our various community and environment and check every movement in the area.

Mr. Babalola blamed the elders of the country who have failed and blinded folded in their inability to improve on security clue and intelligence.

According to him, the essence of security intelligence is about actions we are under developed because we have not improved on our security intelligence.

Reacting to the lecture, one of the participants Charity Emaviwe described  the lecture and its title as significant.

According to her, “I am  delighted about the topic because security issues have been on the front bunner over time. The timing of the lecture is apt because no other time could have been more important than now.
