Tompolo Denies Placing Adverts Celebrating President Tinubu’s Birthday

In a recent press statement released by High Chief Government Ekpemupolo, popularly known as Tompolo, the Ibe-Ebidouwei of Ijaw Nation and Chairman of Tantita Security Services Nigeria Limited, a denial was made regarding the placement of advertisements celebrating the 72nd birthday of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in various Nigerian newspapers.

According to the statement, High Chief Tompolo clarified that he did not authorize or place any adverts to commemorate President Tinubu’s birthday in the media. The decision stemmed from President Tinubu’s instructions that no birthday parties or advertisements should be organized in his honor due to the current state of the nation. Instead, the President suggested that funds intended for such celebrations should be channeled towards helping the less privileged in society.

Tompolo denial was contained in a press statement signed by Dr Paul Bebenimibo, Media Consultant to High Chief Dr Government Ekpemupolo and mae available to BusinessDay on Friday.

Expressing his respect for President Tinubu’s directive, High Chief Ekpemupolo endorsed the President’s stance and refrained from any public displays of celebration. He acknowledged President Tinubu’s efforts towards reshaping the country for sustained economic progress and prosperity.

Furthermore, the statement highlighted High Chief Ekpemupolo’s commitment to collaborating with security agencies to combat illegal crude oil activities in the Niger Delta region. By aligning with the President’s vision, he aimed to contribute to the eradication of such activities to enhance economic productivity and prosperity in the region.

The press release emphasized that the adverts celebrating President Tinubu’s birthday were not sanctioned by High Chief Ekpemupolo. It suggested that the individuals responsible for the placement of the advertisements may have acted with good intentions, albeit without his authorization.

“It is our position that it is a grave error and insensitivity to the current state of things in Nigeria.
High Chief Ekpemupolo expresses his deep regret for this action and also apologise on behalf of those who placed the adverts, to Mr President for any embassment this action must have cost him. It is highly regretted,” the statement added.

The statement concluded by reiterating High Chief Ekpemupolo’s dedication to supporting President Tinubu’s initiatives and working towards the common goal of national development and economic growth.
