Prof. Ezekiel Oghenyerhovwo Agbalagba, a renowned Professor of Environment and Radiation Physics has emerged as the new Vice Chancellor of the Federal University of Petroleum Resources, Effurun (FUPRE).
This was disclosed by Engr. Issa Gacchi Bello, Pro-Chancellor/ Chairman, Governing Council, Federal University of Petroleum Resources, Effurun (FUPRE) while addressing journalists in the Council Room of the University, he said that 39 candidates were shortlisted and interviewed but the new Vice Chancellor was picked on merit based on his academic experience and leadership qualities.
Prof. Agbalagba takes over from Prof. Akpofure Rim-Rukeh whose tenure winds up May 4, 2025.
According to Engr. Bello, “following a thorough evaluation process, thirty -nind (39) candidates were shortlisted and interviewed before the Governing Council’s consideration and approval, after a careful deliberation, Prof Ezekiel O. Agbalagba was selected as the new Vice Chancellor.”
Engr. Bello said that Prof. Agbalagba is an experienced academics with distinctive leadership qualities, adding, ” hence he is the ideal person for the position of the Vice Chancellor of this great specialized University”.
In an interview on how he feels as his tenure as Vice Chancellor is winding down, Prof. Akpofure Rim-Rukeh, the outgoing Vice Chancellor said he is elated because, “the selection process was seamless and rancour free. It is a seamless transition. It followed due process that was very smooth, I have given birth to a new baby.”
Prof. Agbalagba hales from Agharha-Otor in Ughelli North Local Government Area.
