Agbon Kingdom Union donates educational materials to schools

The Agbon Kingdom Union based in London, United Kingdom (UK) in its determination to promote welfare programme has donated school bags, books and other educational materials to some schools in Agbon Kingdom, Ethiope East local government area of Delta State.
The Union executive members led by the vice president, Mr. Onome Emosivwe said that the Union was committed to the promotion of education, development of various communities and unity of Agbon people, adding that they decided to donate these educational items to improve standard of education.
Emosivwe said that education of the young ones(children) remain very important to them as a Union and to Nigeria as a country, stressing that they are ready to do everything possible to promote education, because is a powerful weapon which you can use to change the world.
At various schools visited, Emosivwe told the children to take their studies seriously as this would help them in future and place them in a better position, noting that it would serve as legacy bequeathed to them by their parents.
According to him “Your education is important to all Agbon sons and daughters in London this is why we are offering you these items which we hope will help you at school.
We hope if you work hard and pass all your exams you can become a doctor, engineer or even a computer programmer”.
He urged the students to be punctual to school and wait till closing time, discipline, do their homework, read their textbooks, listen to their teachers and parents and even engage in sporting activity, stressing that “We are all looking up to you as a future leader”.
Chief Emmanuel Avworo who represented the Agbon Monarch, Ukori 1, Ovie of Agbon Kingdom said that Agbon Union in the UK was quite passionate about education and development of Agbon Kingdom, stressing that their gestures through this donation was commendable.
Chief Avworo who is the Secretary of the Agbon Traditional Council of Chiefs urged them to continue to assist the Kingdom always as God would continue to bless them.
The representative of the Delta State governor, Chief (Mrs.) Tessy Torru, Special Assistant to Governor on Education Monitoring thanked the Agbon Union in the United Kingdom for their gesture. She special thanked them for this gesture for remembering their home and local government and for keying into the governor’s SMART Agenda.
The schools that benefited from the philanthropic gesture of Agbon Union in the UK are Urhuegbe Primary School, Okpara Inland, Anigboro Primary School, Kokori Inland, Iwhe Primary School, Eku, Otoro Primary School, Orhuakpo, Oviorie Model Primary School, Oviorie-Ovu, Ohwoyovwe Primary School, Igun among others.
