Matriculating Students of the 2024/2025 academic session of Petroleum Training Institute (PTI), Effurun have been called upon to set clear goals for themselves, focused as well as be innovative to achieve success in their academic pursuits.
This charge was given by Dr. Samuel E. Onoji, Principal and Chief Executive, Petroleum Training Institute (PTI), Effurun, Delta State during the combined matriculation ceremony for full time and School of Industrial Continuing Education programmes for 2024/2025 academic session, he also cautioned them against indulging in social vices.
Dr. Onoji, an Engineer harped on the importance of hard work, dedication and perseverance, noting that, since the oil and gas industry is highly competitive and dynamic, it therefore demands that professionals who are adaptable, innovative and committed to excellence would thrive and succeed in it.
According to Dr. Onoji, ” be focused and determined. Set clear goals for yourselves and work diligently to achieve them. Be curious and innovative. Take advantage of our state-of-the-art facilities and resources to explore new ideas and solutions. Be respectful and responsible. Uphold the values of our Institute and demonstrate respect for fellow students, staff and community and be proactively engaged.”
The Principal and Chief Executive of the Institute added, “on social vices, I want to emphasize that the Institute has zero-tolerance for examination misconduct, physical and sexual assault, cultism, use of drugs, narcotics, theft, robbery, certificate forgeries, indecent dressing and prostitution, stealing, bullying and harassment, misuse of social media among others.’
He spoke further, “as you begin your studies, I want to emphasize the importance of hard work, dedication and perseverance. The oil and gas industry is highly competitive and dynamic, and it demands professionals who are adaptable, innovative and committed to excellence.”
While congratulating the matriculating students on their admission into the Institute, Dr. Onoji advised them to access the Nigeria education Loan Fund(NELFUND), an initiative of the President Bola Ahmed Tinubu administration put in place to alleviate the financial burden on students of tertiary institutions in the country.
High point of the ceremony was the administration of Matriculation Oath on the one thousand, six hundred and twenty five(1,625) students by Dr. Onoji.
