IGP Commissions Ugborikoko Police Station Built by Tantita Security, Applauds Community Partnership

By Francis Sadhere, Warri
The Inspector-General of Police, IGP Kayode Egbetokun, on Friday officially commissioned the newly built Ugborikoko Divisional Police Station in Effurun, Uvwie Local Government Area of Delta State.
The project, funded and executed by Tantita Security Services Nigeria Limited (Tantita SSNL), marks a major milestone in police-community collaboration for improved security infrastructure in the Niger Delta.
The new police facility comprises a purpose-built and fully equipped station, a Quarter Guard post, a generator house, modern drainage systems, and a refurbished police hall.
To ensure operational efficiency, Tantita also donated two Hilux patrol vehicles, a 30kVA soundproof generator, a 30kVA solar power system, CCTV surveillance systems, computer equipment, television sets, air conditioning units, office printers, and a fully furnished conference and interrogation room.
Represented at the ceremony by the Assistant Inspector-General of Police, Zone 5, AIG Salma Dogo Garba, IGP Egbetokun commended Tantita SSNL and its Managing Director, High Chief Kestin Pondi, for their generous support and visionary contribution to security development in the area.
Describing the project as a “significant effort at strengthening the safety, security, and protection of life and property,” the IGP noted that the facility will not only improve policing in the Ugborikoko axis but also bring the police closer to the people they serve.
“This new police station is more than just a place for officers to work,” IGP Egbetokun stated through his representative. “It is a symbol of trust, partnership, and commitment to peace and development. It reflects the shared belief that security is a collective responsibility.”
The IGP also emphasized the strategic role of the Nigeria Police Force in maintaining law and order and assured that the Ugborikoko Division will utilize the new facility to foster stronger community relations and enhance effective policing.
He further stressed Tantita’s ongoing role in protecting critical national assets, particularly in the oil and gas sector, and lauded the company’s impact on national productivity and infrastructure development.
“This gesture by Tantita Security Services Nigeria Limited is not only a boost to policing but also a testament to what can be achieved when private security companies partner with the government to secure communities,” the IGP noted.
Earlier in his speech, the Managing Director of Tantita SSNL, Engr. Kestin Pondi, described the facility as “a celebration of our shared commitment to safety, security, and community development.”
“This is not just a building,” he said, “it is a statement — a testament to the collaboration between communities, governments, and the private sector.”
Engr. Pondi hailed the dedication of the Nigeria Police Force, noting that the investment was meant to both support and inspire the officers who serve daily under challenging conditions.
“Security infrastructure matters. A secure, functional, and decent work environment boosts morale, enhances operational effectiveness, and strengthens public confidence in law enforcement,” he said.
Noting the broader impact of Tantita’s operations, Pondi pointed to the dramatic rise in Nigeria’s oil production since the company began operations in August 2022 — from under 700,000 barrels per day to 1.7 million barrels per day as of early 2025.
He credited improved pipeline security as a key driver of the increase and reaffirmed Tantita’s support for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s oil production targets of 2.06 million barrels per day by 2025 and 4 million by 2030.
“We call on all stakeholders to enhance utilization of current infrastructure. The increase in Federal allocation to oil-producing states in the last 36 months is proof that partnership delivers results,” Pondi said, urging collaboration across the board.
He called on officers posted to Ugborikoko to serve with “integrity, professionalism, and fairness,” and urged the community to see the station as a beacon of progress born from unity.
The event was graced by top government officials, security chiefs, traditional rulers, and community leaders, who lauded Tantita’s initiative as a model for public-private partnership in addressing security and infrastructure challenges in the country.
