Host Communities of Nigeria Producing Oil & Gas Disown Impersonator
By Afe Bright
The Leadership of Host Communities of Nigeria Producing Oil & Gas (HOSTCOM) Itsekiri Chapter has charged the Delta State government and management of the Delta State Oil Producing Area Development Commission, DESOPADEC and other companies operating in Itsekiri land not to have any further dealings with the Mr. Godwin Oruru-led parallel executive henceforth.
In a statement made available to newsmen in Warri Wednesday and signed by the Chairman and Secretary of the Elders Council of Hostcom, Itsekiri chapter, Pa. Samuel Iyonsi and Pa. Oritsetimeyin Tonukarin, they said the only recognized and authentic executive is led by Comrade Itse Omajugho, saying that Mr. Oruru is an impersonator.
According to the statement, “we are compelled to bring to your attention a matter of grave concern. Mr. Godwill Oruru has been impersonating the leadership of Host Communities of Nigeria Producing Oil & Gas (HOSTCOM) Itsekiri Chapter, and has been presenting himself as the authentic representative of the chapter to various individuals, organizations, including and not limited to DESOPADEC and Delta State Government.
“This act of deception has caused harm and confusion among our association members, and has the potential to undermine the legitimate interests and activities of HOSTCOM Itsekiri Chapter.
“We affirm that Comr. Itse Omajugho is the duly elected and recognized Chairman of HOSTCOM Itsekiri Chapter, and any claims by Mr. Oruru to this position are entirely false and misleading.
“We strongly condemn Mr. Oruru’s actions and demand that he cease and desist from any further impersonation. We also request that appropriate measures be taken to address this situation and prevent such incidents in the future”, the statement emphasized.
While stating that the Elders Council stand united in their condemnation of Mr. Oruru’s actions and will not tolerate any behavior that undermines the trust and integrity of our association, they are committed to upholding and work with the Omajugho-led executive for effective and efficient delivery of mandate freely given to him to discharge it’s functions without let or hinderance.
