Forum Sues For Politics Of Unity In Delta State

THE 1999-2002 Ex-Local Government Political Office Holders Forum (ELGPOHF) has harped on the need for the promotion of political unity in Delta State.

In a communiqué issued at the end of an interactive session in Warri, the Forum maintained the opinion that any Deltan, irrespective of social, religious, ethnic, political party affiliation, in so far meets eligibility by law, has all rights to aspire for the highest political office in Delta State.

It therefore, vehemently dissociate itself from any politics of ethnic or religious colouration, but would be from with propagating political actions that promotes the unity of Delta State.

In the communiqué signed by Chief Victor Okumagba (Chairman), Hon. John Edogbere (General Secretary), Lucky O. Okoro (Public Relations Officer) and eleven others, the Forum said it was fully ready to faithfully align or form alliance with any group or political party that is promoting or supporting a prospective aspirant aspiring for elective offices including governorship and presidential aspirants.

The Forum used the medium to appeal to all Local Government Councils in Delta State that refused to comply with directives of the House of Assembly, in the payment of transport arrears due to Ex-Local Government Political Office Holders who served from 1999-2002 to effect payment accordingly.

Chairman of the Forum, Olorogun Victor Okumagba had earlier in his address at the interactive session held inside the Conference Hall of Palm Groove Motel, Warri implored members to have a change of attitude to issues affecting the Forum.

He said “The most important thing we can do to ourselves whether as Deltans or as Nigerians is the act of creating an environment that enables all of us to transact and interact for our individual and collective progress.”

Mr. Lucky Okoro presented a paper; “The effectiveness of Group Approach in Politics: A Study of the prospect, challenges and measures to Reposition the Forum for 2015.”
