Jubilation in Warri as Oborevwori delivers promised transformer to Delta community
There was wild jubilation at First Marine Gate in Warri South Council Area of Delta as residents in the area heaved a sigh of relief when the brand new 500KVA transformer approved by Governor Sheriff Oborivwori a week ago, was delivered to the community.
The resident on sighting the truck carrying the transformer, trooped out in their numbers to welcome the Chairman of the council, Dr Michael Tidi and his team, who brought the transformer to the community.
Recall that Governor Oborivwori, during an inspection tour of storm water drainage projects in the area had heeded to the plea of the residents for a transformer and immediately approved the provision of a brand new one for the area.
Oborevwori, who gave the approval had said that the transformer would be delivered to the area through the Council Chairman in two weeks.
Handing over the transformer to Mr Omo-efe Agaga, the community chairman, Tidi, who was represented by the Secretary to the Warri South Local Government, Mr Joseph Oribioye, urged the community to own the transformer and protect it from vandals.
He said that delivering the transformer to the community just one week after the approval by the Delta State Governor has shown that Governor Oborivwori is a promise keeper.
“One week ago, Governor Oborivwori had made a promised you people that he was going to give you a brand new transformer, and today, to God be the glory, the transformer is here.
“This transformer is 500KVA, eleven lines, ABB product, the best in the world and it also comes with a two years warranty.
“So on behalf of the Governor, His Excellency Rt. Hon Sheriff Oborivwori, here is the transformer and I want you to use it to the glory of Agaga community,” Tidi said.
Responding, chairman of the community, Mr Omo-Efe Agaga, thanked Governor Sheriff Oborivwori for the kind gesture, promising to protect the transformer from vandals.
Also, a resident of the area, Mrs Shola Onobokhua, who drew the attention of the Governor to the lack of a transformer during the inspection, could not hide her joy when she saw the transformer been mounted in the street.
“I cannot thank the Governor enough. For almost two years now we have been in darkness. So when I heard that the Governor was coming to our area, I gathered some of my friends and we made sure we told the governor our pains. God will continue to bless Governor Sheriff Oborivwori for us,”Mrs Onobokhua said.
