The era where lawmakers threaten President Muhammadu Buhari with impeachment move was over, says Deputy Senate President, Senator Ovie Omo-Agege
Senator Omo-Agege, disclosed this at his country home in Orogun, Ughelli North Local Government Area where a mammoth crowd gathered for his heroic welcome and reception in his honour after landing at the Osubi Airstrip, Okpe Local Government Area,
He said that the leadership of the Senate would create an enabling environment to realise the content of the “Next Level” agenda of the ruling All Progressive Congress (APC).
Senator Omo-Agege said that the era where the National Assembly was always at loggerheads with President Muhammadu Buhari is over, saying President Buhari could now sleep with his two eyes closed without fear with the Ahmed Lawan-led leadership as Senate President.
According to Senator Omo-Agege, “in my position as Deputy Senate President working with the Senate President, Ahmed Lawan, the least we owe President Buhari is to create an enabling environment so that the content of the next level agenda that all of us campaigned for will be realised. The era when the President was being threatened with removal is over. He can now sleep with his two eyes closed.”
Senator Omo-Agege called on Deltans to express appreciation to President Buhari for the role he played in his emergence as the Deputy Senate President, he also urged the people to thank all the APC governors and all the senators for the roles they played individually and collectively over his emergence as Deputy Senate President.
He added, “President Buhari loved Urhobo and Delta, he gave us a Minister and despite all odd, Buhari stood his ground to ensure that I become the Deputy Senate President. South South region has not produced deputy Senate President since 1999 but all of this was possible because of President Buhari. We should thank and support his government.”
Senator Omo-Agege then called on the leadership of the APC in the three senatorial districts in Delta to work harder to win the senatorial seats in the 2023 election, adding, ” al the districts must produce senators in the next election.”
Earlier in the day, large crowd of people that cuts across party lines had throng the Osubi Airstrip as early as 7.45am awaiting his arrival
Senate Omo-Agege, who arrived with Chief Great Ogboru, 2019 State APC governorship candidate, the state party chairman, Prophet Jones Erue and other prominent party leaders, thanked the people of Delta Central for the mandate given to him.
In a good will message, Sir Richard Odibo, Federal Commissioner of the National Population Commission (NPC has dismissed insinuations that there was rift between Senator Omo-Agege and Chief Great Ogboru, 2019 APC Governorship Candidate.
According to Sir Odibo, “all the rumours you are hearing about Chief Ogboru and Senator Ovie Omo-Agege are mere talk just to destroy their relationship. We therefore thank Senator Omo-Agege for a job well done for making Deltans proud.”
