A vote for Buhari, a vote for Backwardness—Ned Nwoko

By Austin Oyibod

Prince Ned Nwoko, the Delta State Coordinator of Transformation Ambassadors of Nigeria (TAN) and the Goodluck Campaign Organisation, says Nigeria needs a pragmatic young Nigerian in the person of Goodluck Ebele Jonathan to fix the standing issues in Nigeria. He was cornered by AUSTIN OYIBODE when he inaugurated Delta State Executive Committees of both bodies in his country home, Idumuje-Ugboko in Aniocha North Local Government Area of the state.

Why do you think Nigerians should vote for Goodluck Jonathan in the February 14 elections?

Apart from the much I have said about the education sector and the roads, agriculture and railways, Goodluck Jonathan is focused. You can attest to the fact that this is the first time that a man can be abused without the abuser being manhandled. So, there is freedom of speech, something that we cherish.

I don’t expect him to win election tomorrow and then change his colour, no. He is not that kind of person. He has promised that he will do more particularly in the agricultural sector as well as in education, power and security.

The issue of insecurity in the country is something that did not start during his government. Boko Haram was there when Obasanjo was in power and it was still there when Ya’Adua ruled Nigeria. Nigeria is not the only country experiencing insurgency. We have seen insurgency in Afghanistan, Iraq, Syria, and of course Libya.

As a democrat, he believes that those who are elected in those states should function as they were elected. That is the governors, men of the Houses of Assembly and the council officials. So, he will continue to serve Nigerians and I believe that he will do a lot better than he has done so far.

If you vote for Buhari on the other hand, you are taking us to 14 years back. APC will start from scratch. Nigeria is in a hurry to move forward. We cannot afford to go back. It will take them more years to be where we are today. We all pray to be old and wiser but Buhari is an old man already. What does he have then to offer Nigerians?

For now, we don’t need expired ideas. We need new, brilliant and fresh ideas from the younger generation to move Nigeria forward. Jonathan is the man Nigeria needs now and not Buhari. A vote for him for the next four years will bring more transformation programmes for Nigeria.

Buhari functioned to the best of his ability during the military regime where he didn’t need a parliament for any check and balances. Democratic government is a different ball game. All together he doesn’t have the wherewithal to solve our problems. The problems of Nigeria will be solved gradually and by a younger person like Goodluck Jonathan.

Most of the people in APC are decampees from PDP. So, they really have nothing new to offer. They are there because they didn’t like what happened in PDP. I tell Nigerians don’t waste your votes, support Goodluck Jonathan to complete the new term of office and just see a new turn in our lives.

He has done so much for Nigeria. Look at the power sector, look at the roads. The second Niger Bridge is already in progress, most of the federal roads are wearing new faces, agriculture is being revamped, education is receiving its needed attention. In the South East, he has just commissioned a railway line running through Enugu to Port Harcourt.  He has all Nigerians in mind. He has good plans for every Nigerian and to actualize all the good plans he has, is to go back for the next four years.

So, there is no need for anyone to waste his votes for APC. APC has nothing to offer Nigerians. It is only Goodluck Jonathan and the PDP that can take Nigeria to the next level.
