Renowned Niger Delta environmental and human rights activist, Chief Mulade Sheriff, PhD, has commended Delta State Governor, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori, for the successful groundbreaking ceremony of the ₦59.7 billion Lagos–Asaba Expressway Flyover at the Uromi Junction in Agbor, describing the project as another landmark achievement of the administration.
Chief Mulade, who spoke to journalists in Asaba after the ceremony, said the governor’s performance since assuming office has been impressive and impactful, urging politicians in the state not to contest against him in the 2027 governorship election but rather allow him to consolidate on the ongoing development across Delta State.
According to the Niger Delta activist, the successive flag-off of major infrastructure projects, including the recently inaugurated Ughelli Flyover and the Agbor Flyover, clearly demonstrates that Governor Oborevwori came well-prepared to govern the state.
“We have just witnessed the groundbreaking ceremony for yet another flyover in the state. Only recently, the governor performed the groundbreaking for the Ughelli Flyover, and today it is Agbor. This project will significantly strengthen economic activities in this area. The governor deserves commendation for coming to our rescue,” he said.
Chief Mulade added that the governor has consistently lived up to expectations, noting that Deltans have not been disappointed by his leadership style and development-driven agenda.
“The governor has shown that he came prepared for the job of piloting the affairs of our dear state, and he has never disappointed us,” he stated.
The Ibe-Serimowei of the ancient oil-rich Gbaramatu Kingdom also lauded Governor Oborevwori for presenting 65 brand new Sports Utility Vehicles (SUVs) to traditional rulers across the state, describing the gesture as a welcome development that underscores the administration’s respect for traditional institutions.
“I want to also use this medium to thank our governor for the presentation of 65 brand new SUVs to royal fathers across the state. He is doing very well, and we are proud of him. He values our traditional rulers, who are the custodians of our culture and traditions,” Chief Mulade said.
He further called on politicians in the state to rally behind the governor ahead of 2027, stressing that continuity would enable the completion and consolidation of people-oriented projects already underway.
“With the unprecedented development we have witnessed in the state, we should encourage him to go for a second term to consolidate on the ongoing people-oriented projects. I appeal to our politicians not to distract the governor by contesting against him. We are expecting more project flag-offs across the state this year, with special focus on the riverine areas,” he added.
