The Delta State Police Command has assured residents of robust security arrangements ahead of the 2026 Eid-el-Fitr celebrations across the state.
The Commissioner of Police, Aina Adesola, disclosed that strategic deployment of personnel has been ordered to ensure a peaceful and hitch-free celebration scheduled for Thursday, March 19, and Friday, March 20, 2026.
According to the CP, adequate security measures have been put in place to safeguard lives and property, as well as guarantee the free flow of traffic during the festivities. He noted that a comprehensive operational plan involving conventional police officers, tactical units, and other assets has been activated at all Eid prayer grounds and other critical locations across the state.
Adesola warned criminal elements, including cultists and other troublemakers, to stay away from unlawful activities, stressing that the Command is fully prepared to respond decisively to any threat to public peace.
He further directed Divisional Police Officers, Area Commanders, and Tactical Commanders to intensify intelligence-driven raids on identified criminal hideouts and black spots. The Deputy Commissioner of Police in charge of Operations has also been tasked with ensuring effective coordination and supervision of all security deployments before, during, and after the celebrations.
The Command urged residents to remain law-abiding and vigilant, and to promptly report any suspicious movements or activities to the nearest police station.
