2021 HAJJ: SOUTH SOUTH COMMISSIONER URGES BAYELSA GOVT. TO CONSTITUTE MUSLIM BOARD

The Federal Commissioner representing South-South Region in the National Hajj Commission of Nigeria(NAHCON), Alhaji Sadiq Musa has called on the Bayelsa State Government to constitute the Bayelsa State Muslim Pilgrims Welfare Board including a “Saving Scheme” for Muslims as part of preparations for the 2021 Hajj.
Alhaji Musa made the call during his familiarization visit to the Creek Haven, Government House, Bayelsa State.
The Commissioner said with the setting up of the board, the Commission which he represents will have a smooth operation in Bayelsa State.
According to Alhaji Sadiq, “I am here just for a singular reason. It is because when I assume office after screening by the Senate and conferment by Mr. President, it is expected of me to visit my zone, familiarize with them and move for arrangements of 2021 Hajj.’
The South South Commissioner on the board of NAHCON added, “since the Covid-19 pandemic has cancelled the one of 2020, that’s the reason why I am here to assess the Board’s Office and all other facilities that we can use to kick start the 2021 Hajj operations.”
Alhaji Musa who was received in audience by the Bayelsa State Governor, Mr. Duoye Diri who was represented by his Deputy, Mr. Lawrence Ewhrudjakpor commended the State Government for the hospitality accorded muslims thus far.
He also congratulated the Bayelsa State Governor, Mr. Douye Diri on his victory at the Supreme Court.
He said the Supreme Court’s judgment is a victory for the entire people of Bayelsa State.
He added that the judgement has put to rest all litigations as regards the Bayelsa State gubernatorial election.
He also pointed out that the litigations constituted a huge setbacks to the Bayelsa State Government.
Alhaji Musa urged Governor Douye Diri to settle down, work and remain focused in his determination to aggressively developed the State as well better the lives of the people.
In a remark, the Governor of Bayelsa State repressed their appreciation to the Federal Commissioner for his familiarization visit and reassured him that the Bayelsa State Government will continue to treat everyone equally irrespective of their religious and political affiliations.
The governor also assured that the Bayelsa Muslim Pilgrims Welfare Board and others would be constituted especially as the tensions associated with the dreaded COVID-19 pandemic and several other challenges which stared the government at the face has died down.
