Delta Muslims Hold Prayers for Peaceful Elections, Calls On Muslims To Pick PVCs

Muslims in Delta State today day gathered at Umutu in Ukwani Local Government Area of the State to pray for peaceful election across the country with a call on all Muslims to pick their Permanent Voter’s Cards and vote for candidates of their choice.

They called on Nigerians not to see the election as a do or die affair, noting that elections will come and go but Nigeria and Nigerians will continue to live together as one.

While condemning the Boko Haram insurgency who have killed so many innocent people in the name of religion, the Delta Muslims said Islam is a religion of peace that abhors violence and respects sanctity of human life.

The secretary, Delta State Muslim Pilgrim Welfare Board, Alhaji Abdulaziz Amori who spoke to newsmen at the occasion, urged Muslims in the country to pick their PVCs and vote for the candidate of their choice irrespective of religious affiliation, adding that the election should be conducted in a peaceful atmosphere.

While advising Muslims in the country to go about the election peacefully, Alhaji Amori condemned the activities of the Boko Haram insurgents stressing that all Nigerians must stand together and support the Federal Government to win the war against Boko Haram.

Delivering a paper at the occasion titled, “Islam and The Way Forward For Indigenous Muslims In Delta State,” Alhaji Sadiq Musa Oniyesaneyen called on the indigenous Muslims in the State to be united and work as one indivisible unit, adding that the indigenous Muslims should seek the knowledge of Allah so that they can grow spiritually.

On the way forward for indigenous Muslims in the State, Alhaji Sadiq urged them to be selfless, honest, and not shy away from the truth, adding that true Muslims should not be driven by greed and selfishness if the want to live an upright life.

Alhaji Sadiq also called on the indigenous Muslims to work together and participate in politics that will benefit them, noting that without participating in government many benefits they were supposed to get from government will not get to them.

Also speaking to newsmen, former Secretary, Delta State Indigenous Muslims Association, Alhaji Biliomin Otimeyin Emiko called on Nigerians to vote for the candidate they believe will deliver the dividends of democracy to them.

Others who spoke at the occasion all call on indigenous Muslims to support one another both spiritually and otherwise, adding that it was high time the indigenous Muslims in the State held their ground and take what belonged to them and benefits from what is coming from the government.
