COVID-19:ISOKO NORTH APPRECIATES OKOWA OVER PALLIATIVES

The people of C Isoko North Local Government Area have expressed their appreciation to Dr. Ifeanyi Okowa Governor of Delta State over palliatives sent to them to cushion the impact of the lockdown occasioned by the global pandemicc.
Hon. Emmanuel Egbabor, Chairman, Isoko North Local Government Area in a statement made available to the ReformerOnline disclosed that the Council received a total of 520 bags of rice; 260 bags of beans and 800 cartons of Indomie noodles which was shared evenly to the 13 wards in the Local government.
The Isoko North Council boss further disclosed that the people of the area were happy with the state government’s intervention, adding that the food items will bring great relief to them during the period of the lockdown.
He commended members of the local government committee for their diligence in the distribution, stressing that the people remain grateful to the government for the kind gesture.
Other members of the Isoko North Committee include Hon Tim Owhefere, Majority Leader of the State House of Assembly, Hon. Oviemuno Oghoore, Commissioner for Transport, Dr (Mrs) Evelyn Aluta, Princess Oghale Oweh and Bishop Ben Eghaire.
According to the Chairman, the response has been very encouraging from the various wards and the people have asked me to convey their appreciation to Governor Ifeanyi Okowa and the Delta State Government for putting up the Food Bank to assist the poorest of the poor during the lockdown.
According to Hon. Egbabor, “beyond being the Council Chairman, I am also Chairman of the COVID-19 Response Committee in the local government and I can tell you that I have first hand knowledge of the level of hunger induced by the lockdown. It is therefore gratifying to note that the people have shown appreciation to the amiable Governor of our dear State for his prompt response to the acute hunger in the land.”
He added, “I want to say that no beneficiary of the state government palliatives in any of the ward in Isoko North received two cups of rice. The distributions and delivery of foodstuffs to individuals and families in all the 13 wards were properly done and the beneficiaries are happy and prayed for the Governor and his government.”
The chairman, Isoko North L. G. A spoke further, “let me correct the impression on the video trending on social media, whereby some women claimed to have gotten two cups of rice per Individual/family, that was not from the share of the state government palliatives. We thank the state government for this wonderful initiative even as we pray thatt thepandemic leaves us as quickly as possible.”
