Comrade Mulade Commends Tompolo, Other Leaders for Efforts in Riverine Community Development

By Francis Sadhere, Warri

Human and environmental rights activist, Comrade Mulade Sheriff, has lauded several prominent figures from Delta State for their continuous efforts to uplift riverine communities. Among those recognized were High Chief Dr. Government Oweizide Ekpemupolo (Tompolo), Engr. Mathew Tonlagha, Managing Director of Maton Oil and Gas Services Ltd, and Engr. Kestin Pondi, Managing Director of Tantita Security Limited.

Chief Mulade commended these leaders for their significant contributions to the development of the riverine communities in Delta State, particularly through infrastructural advancements and human empowerment initiatives.

Sheriff, who hails from the Gbaramatu Kingdom in Warri South West Local Government Area, praised the trio for their impactful roles in transforming the coastal regions of the state.

He noted that as part of their corporate social responsibility, they have spearheaded projects aimed at improving infrastructure and providing job opportunities for local inhabitants.

The United Nations Peace Ambassador and Ibe-Serimowei of Gbaramatu Kingdom also expressed his appreciation for the efforts of these leaders in addressing the environmental degradation caused by years of oil and gas pollution, as well as the challenges of marine erosion that have devastated local communities.

According to Mulade, these environmental issues have led to the loss of fishing rights and agricultural land for many coastal dwellers.

“It is crucial to recognize that the coastal communities, which are essential to the nation’s economy, have long been neglected by both the federal and state governments, despite their significant contributions to the country’s wealth,” Sheriff said.

“Their environment has been severely impacted, yet leaders like Tompolo, Engr. Mathew Tonlagha, and Engr. Kestin Pondi have shown unparalleled dedication to improving the lives of the people here.”

Mulade further acknowledged the role of Tantita Security Limited in conducting surveillance operations to protect the environment from further degradation.

He commended the company for its efforts in environmental restoration, which have been pivotal in addressing the damage caused by years of unsustainable practices in the region.

In a heartfelt message, Sheriff encouraged the people of the riverine communities to continue supporting the development efforts and to cooperate with leaders like Tompolo and others in expanding infrastructural projects that will drive economic growth in the region.

He also called on President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to sustain the Tantita security surveillance contracts, which he believes are vital to increasing the nation’s oil production and maintaining peace in the Niger Delta.
