Centrep hails Governor Okowa’s zero tolerance for corruption, ethnic politics, sectionalism
By Francis Sadhere
Centre for the Vulnerable and Underprivileged (CENTREP) has lauded the Delta State Governor, Dr. Ifeanyi Okowas zero tolerance for corruption, ethnic politics and sectionalism.
The Centre made this commendation in a press statement signed by its Executive Director, Barrister Oghenejabor Kimi and made available to journalists in Warri, Delta State.
The Centre also called on the twelve newly sworn-in civil Commissioners and five Special Advisers in the state to help the governor realize his dreams for the state.
According to the statement: The attention of members of the centre for the vulnerable and the underprivileged, (CENTREP) have been drawn to Governor Ifeanyi Okowa’s recent statement in Asaba while admonishing twelve newly sworn civil commissioners and five special advisers in the State to the effect that his administration shall have zero tolerance for corruption, ethnic politics and sectionalism in Delta State and we commend same as the above ills took centre stage during the previous administration of ex Governor Emmanuel Uduaghan in the State.
“We however call on the incumbent Governor to sincerely intimate Deltans with the mechanism his administration had already put in place to halt the worsening level of impunity, official corruption, ethnic politics and sectionalism in the State, so that his above statement do not turn out to be a mere political gimmick to hoodwink Deltans as it was with previous administrations in the State.
“We once again renew our call to the Okowa led Government in the State to probe all contracts awarded in the State under the watch of ex Governor Emmanuel Uduaghan, and to audit the accounts of the Delta State Oil Producing Areas Development Commission (DESOPADEC) from it inception, besides making public the outcome of the three man administrative panel set up by the previous administration to probe the sales of employment into the State Civil Service by the erstwhile State Civil Service Commission with a view to prosecuting all those involved in the above shameful saga to serve as a deterrent to public officeholders with scratchy palms in our polity.
