Delta holds 1st tricycle race competition in Uvwie

The Chairman of Uvwie Council Area of Delta State, Mrs. Stella Otiotio Dabonar in conjunction with Finarex Paint Company on Thursday said all is now set to flag off its human capacity programmed tagged ‘Uvwie Charity Ride Project’ (U-CRIP) competition, a unique sports and empowerment project designed for tricycle (Keke) riders in the area.

Speaking to journalist in a press briefing in Uvwie, Dabonar said the programme is supported and endorsed by the council as a human capacity building and people oriented project aimed at given opportunities to people in the area to compete for prizes and rewards in an atmosphere of peace just like it’s done in India.

She said the competition will also unit, promote and elevate the social economic standard of people in the area, calling on individuals and organizations within and outside the council area to take advantage and leverage on the opportunities provided by U-CRIP for their brands and be involved in its success.

She said, “As a council we believe that success for one is success for all and together we will make history and create a future of peace and prosperity. This project is supported and endorsed by the council as a human capacity building and people oriented project.”

Earlier, the Chief Executive Officer of Firanex paints, Hon. Arex Akemotubo explained that U-CRIP competition is a unique game of sports were ‘Keke’ riders will compete for the different prizes as well as an empowerment scheme that offers opportunities to ‘Keke’ riders.

He said the competition, which is scheduled to hold on the 27th of December, 2016 from 10am to 6pm, will end with a gala/award ceremony.

Akemotubo said, “In a time when the cost of living is so high with hunger and starvation everywhere, the need to support individuals and families cannot be overemphasized. This project seeks to impact and empower individuals and families of this trade.”
