APC cannot divert Okowa’s attention from governance – Onuesoke
By Francis Sadhere, Warri
The Director of Special Projects to Governor Ifeanyi Okowa, Hon. Sunny Onuesoke on Monday said the All Progressive Congress (APC) cannot divert the governor’s attention from governance of Delta State, noting that no amount of blackmail will stop the governor from performing his duties to the state
Onuesoke spoke to National Reformer while reacting to the call by APC Delta State Chapter for the state Governor to come out and address Deltans on his alleged involvement in the diverted $10million, allegedly “cornered” by an unnamed mistress.
Onuesoke who described the allegation as spurious called on Deltans not to take it serious, adding that even Lagos State which has the highest revenue allocation does not have that kind of money in their coffers.
He said those peddling such rumours must come out with facts otherwise he is going to take serious litigations against anyone that is found to be the originator or that the story. He said if the medium that published that allegation does not come out with hard fact about the story, he is going to take them to court.
“If APC thinks that they could divert the attention of my government from concentrating on governance and reaching out to perform his well spelt out programme, then I Onuesoke, will meet the APC accusation with overwhelming and effective response. Come to think of it, even Lagos State does not have 4 billion naira resting in their coffers. No state in the federation has that kind of money in their account. This is why I say the accusation is very stupid. I know my state does not have that kind of money in the treasury,” he said.
He said the administration of Governor Okowa has performed very well in terms of road projects, noting that there is no local government in the state that has not felt the impact of the government in road construction and rehabilitation.
Assessing the administration of President Muhammadu Buhari so far, Hon. Onuesoke who is also the Country Director, Network for Good Governance (N4GG) said President Buhari has performed poorly, noting the economy under his administration is dying as people cannot eat three square meals a day.
He said he is disappointed with the policy of the present government since they have not improved on the lives of the populace, adding that President Buhari has taken the nation deep into poverty.
