Lawyer faults Buhari’s choice of ministers, says anti-corruption fight not genuine

A Warri based lawyer, Mr. Lucky Egboyi Esq on Thursday lambasted President Muhammadu Buhari for appointing Mr. Godswill Akpabio and Mr. Festus Keyamo as Ministers of the Niger Affairs.

Egboyi said with the appointments of duo, the President’s fight against corruption is a mere witch hunting of political enemies.

The legal practitioner made the assertion in a chat with Our Correspondent in Warri.

Egboyi said the President made the appointments without taking into consideration, “morality”.

While noting that President Buhari has the prerogative to make the appointment, Egboyi insisted that it is also discretionary for him to do so.

“The President has the power to exercise the prerogative judicially and judiciously. But he did it without taking into consideration morality.

Egboyi recalled that President Buhari,an acclaimed to be a man of integrity was voted for by Nigerians who dreamt of him being their ” Messiah” at a time when they felt Dr. Goodluck Jonathan’s led Federal Government failed them.

He described the appoinment of Mr. Godswill Akpabio as Minister of Niger Delta Affairs as a “Political patronage” for him to recoupe all he has lost.

“This is a man when he was in PDP, he was regular guest to the EFCC. For Keyamo who was prosecuting Akpabio to be junior minister is something else. The corruption fight is a charm.

“Nigerians are hopeless and no one is protesting. He has made the appointment and nobody can question him. Evans can even be brought from Prison and be given appointment. But he should do it with human face.”
