2015: Delta Community calls on politicians to Conduct Themselves Peacefully

Ahead of the 2015 general election elders at the Otogor community of Ughelli north local government area, Delta state have called on all sons and daughter of the community to remain peaceful with one another  and regard each other has one irrespective of political affiliation.

Chairman of the community, Mr. Peter Essi made the call to leaders of the two rivalry political parties PDP and APC while addressing the youths of Otogor kingdom.

Mr. Essi said the call became necessary due to the the numbers of people vying for the position of councillorship in the ward.

His words; “this meeting became necessary because of the present number of candidates we have at hand that has declared their intention from APC and PDP for a councilor of this ward. We wouldn’t want the mistake of the past to repeat itself, so leaders of the two political parties present should cautiously look for a modality to bring a candidate out of the many to avoid violence.”

The President of Emuduagian political Forum, Mr. Sunday Unuta who spoke on behalf of the youth, applauded the effort of the community leader, stressing that Otogor has been peaceful kingdom and that with or without election the people would continue to maintain its good relationship.

He said Emuduagian forum will not relent in its effort to ensure that a leader with the portrait of good governance take over the mantle of leadership in the ward.

Responding, the leaders of the two political parties present in the meeting expressed their gratitude to all the elders in attendance for their kind observation and promised not to fail them but to act according to the demands of the elders.
