By Eben Enasco Kingsley, Benin City

Residents of Benin City have commended Governor Adams Oshiomhole of Edo State for ensuring that development projects in the state are not abandoned in spite of dwindling revenues to states and the federal government, saying they will give their full support to whoever the Governor brings as his successor, as they are confident that he will not disappoint the people.

Some of the residents spoke during the Governor’s inspection of some projects in Benin City, which included the 7.8 km Second East Circular Road and the Storm Water Project at Uwelu.

A resident of Second East Circular Road, Mr. Okpara Bernard, while poring encomiums on the Governor said: “Comrade oshiomhole said, when he was contesting for governorship election in Edo State that he will do wonders, and he has proved thousands who did not believe in him that he is the right person for Edo State, and he has done powerfully well. We know the person he is bringing to come after him will act wisely.”

In the same vein, Mrs. Joy Alemesikhian who couldn’t hide her joy on the new 6-lane dual-carriageway road said, “we really appreciate you, sir. We thank you for what you have done for us. We really thank you, and God is going to use you more. You will never lack in the name of Jesus. For this road, we appreciate you, daddy.”

Students and pupils who were on their home from school milled round the Governor  asnd some of them said the road which had been in a deplorable condition for a long time is now so smooth and they find it easy to get to school.

At Uwelu, the residents were full of excitement and they expressed gratitude to the Governor for coming to their rescue. Mr. Prince Henry Aisien Ehigie  who spoke to reporters said “we thank him for his efforts, but we will want him to complete it before going. We appreciate him.”

Speaking to a mammoth crowd who gathered at Uwelu to appreciate him on road project there, Governor Oshiomhole said, “I am just going round. We  have done the difficult part of the job which is the drainage because any job they do without drainage is not going to last. Now, we have done the drainage, within the next two weeks, they are going to asphalt the whole of this area, so the road will be complete. And once they do that, we are also going to put street light so that those of you who are traders, you don’t need to close your shops by six o’ clock. When the light is on, business is on. Thank you for your support, thank you for your prayers.”
