By; Emma Arubi, Warri
The Chairman of the Niger Delta Political Movement, NDPM, and a former Councilor representing Oporaza ward in Warri South-West LGA of Delta State, Hon. Oliver Mala has stated that beggers and street urchins loitering the streets of Abuja and its environs are major informants to kidnappers, herdsmen, militants and other social miscreants threatening the security of lives and property of citizens of Nigeria.
Speaking exclusively to New Nigerian Newspaper in Warri on Thursday, the politician and social crusader said they should be swept of the FCT and environs while their sponsors are arrested forthwith.
The Niger Delta activist who described the FCT Minister, Mr. Nyesom Wike as the political leader and voice of the Niger Delta region appealed to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to grant Wike more powers to ride the FCT of all illegal construction and properties defacing and distorting the Abuja masterplan.
He applauded Wike for the marvelous job being done to give the FCT it deserve pride of place as the Federal Capital Territory saying that by implementing the Abuja master plan and bringing down all illegal structures he has made concerted effort to restore security to the FCT and ensuref that all these street beggars and nuisance are evacuated from the nooks and cranes of Abuja.
“These sets of human beings poses security threat in the country because, they are the informants and link to bandits, herdsmen, terrorist and militant to their various sponsors. They are responsible for providing guidance to their sponsors that ensures a successful execution of criminal acts of kidnapping for ransoms and others.
“What Wike is doing and has done in FCT as the first FCT minister from the Niger Delta, no other minister ever appointed to that position has ever achieved it under this one year plus.
Those protesting and attacking Wike for this developmental strides are attacking the President Tinubu administration in particular and the Niger Delta region in general. They are indeed the enemies of Nigeria, he asserted.
The former Councilor stated further that the monies used in developing Abuja legitimately and otherwise comes from the oil-rich Niger Delta region, noting that key positions in the oil and gas industries are occupied by persons from the North, the Western part of the country including some part of the South -east with nobody protesting against them for occupying these positions.
“Niger Deltans are not protesting against them for occupying these positions. Meanwhile, the region is a cocktail of gloom, deprivation, subjugation, oppressed and in a very sorry state of affairs in the comity of states in Nigeria”.
According to him, When Wike was Governor of Rivers state, he performed wonderfully well and brought the state to the developmental limelight through the use of Julius Berger who turned the state into a construction site, noting that the state today is a tourist center to behold, adorned by fantastic bridges, right, left and center to the admiration of all well meaning Rivers indigenes in particular and Nigeria in general.
Hon. Mala stated that it is this same spirit, dedication and commitment that he is currently showcasing in Abuja that evil-minded individuals are crying against for selfish reasons.
“Let me sound a note of warning here and also perhaps call on the security agents in Nigeria to urgently reign in all those attacking or protesting against Wike and calling for his removal because they are the real enemies of Nigeria that do not wish the Tinubu administration well. These same people protesting against the presidency and administration of Tinubu should be arrested. They should not provoke Niger Deltans into taking steps that will cripple or bring the Nigeria economy to its knees. When Malam El- rufai was minister of FCT, no group protested against him. Perhaps, because he is from the north. The protest against Wike is hindering him from doing more in complying by the spirits and principle behind the Abuja master plan. This is indeed demonic and satanic. The federal capital territory, Abuja is the center of unity for Nigeria and the seat of governance and so, no one group or persons should be allowed the undue privilege to rubbish it by whatever means.
“Otherwise, investors and all other foreign nationals would run away from Nigeria the self-acclaimed giant of Africa”.
He stressed that if Abuja is in turmoil, then the whole of Nigeria is in trouble as investment will become a mirage with underdevelopment being the end result and Nigerians will suffer for it without discrimination, he opined.
“What Wike has done in Abuja is a replica of what he did in Rivers that he was commended for. The same Wike, of all Niger Delta states Governors in Nigeria was the first that contracted Julius Berger to execute projects in Port harcourt and that novelty stand to his credits.
He expressed regret that all other governors in the Niger Delta states were busy contracting out major projects worth billions of naira to their cronies, family and politicians who do not know the difference between a bulldozer, a grader, paver, vibrator and even a mixer meant for road construction jobs that sank the region into a bottomless pit till date.
