Over One Billion People Still Lack Access to Portable Drinking Water – Dr. Odedede …As Peak Table Water Comes On Board

A Senior Lecturer of the Department of Geology, Delta State University, Abraka, Dr. Oghenerhoro Odedede, has said that over one billion people in the world still lack access to good portable water, which is a fundamental human need.

Dr. Odedede said this in Warri while delivering a lecture, titled, “Water: Recipe for a Healthy Life,”  at the flag off ceremony of Peak Table Water located at Warri/Benin Express Way, Egborodo, Delta state.

The academician, who recognized that the United Nation considers universal access to clean water as a basic human right and an essential step towards improving living standards worldwide, said clean water is a recipe for healthy living.

Mr. Paul Bebenimibo, CEO/MD, Peak Table Water speaking to journalists at the occasion.

He said; “Drinking water helps maintain the balance of body fluid. It facilitates digestion, absorption, circulation of saliva, transportation of nutrients and maintenance of body temperature. Water has emerged as a potential therapeutic agent in some chronic kidney diseases; for example it prevents kidney stone formation. Adequate water intake helps to decrease blood pressure.”

Dr. Odeded further said that hydrotherapy (water therapy) had been used to treat diseases and improve wound healing, circulation, digestion and the immune system for ages, adding that water therapy is also used as a soothing effect and calms the lungs, heart, stomach and endocrine system by stimulating nerves reflexes on the spinal cord.

While reviewing Peak Table water, Dr, Majority Oji  said that the water has satisfied international standards for water consumption, noting that Peak Table Water has passed through the three forms of water treatment; segmentation, chlorination and filtration.

He called on Deltans and Nigerians at large to patronize Peak Water, stressing that it has satisfied all prerequisite of NAFDAC and that it was safe for consumption.

Earlier the CEO/Managing Director, Peak Table Water, Mr. Paul Bebenimibo, in his welcome address, thanked all those who found time to grace the opening ceremony of the water, saying that the introduction of Peak Table water into the society was his own small way of contributing to the society.

“I used to take water a lot and I know the essence of good water. That is why I said I should contribute my own quota to the development of good portable water in this country. It my own way of providing employment for our teeming unemployed youths in this country and also to come out with a quality product because one thing people always say is that our products are substandard. I am coming out with a qualitative product that will compete with other products in the market,” he added.
