Delta Elections Petition Tribunal Receive 40 Petitions

Delta State Election Petitions Tribunals have received 40 petitions from the elections conducted on both March 28 and April 11, 2015.
According to the Secretary of the tribunal, Barrister Al’ Sadiq Abubakar, the 40 petitions were received from aggrieved candidates who were displeased over the results of the elections in the state.
He said the petitions arose from the governorship, National Assembly and State House of Assembly elections.
Also, a senior clerk in the Governorship elections petition Tribunal, Mr. Alex Ibekwe, told our correspondent that three petitions have been received in respect of the governorship poll while others are for the National Assembly and State House of Assembly elections.
He said the petitions in respect of the governorship were received from the Labour Party, the All Progressives Congress and one other party.
The Secretary said the tribunals are made up of a Chairman and two members each.
He also disclosed that the Governorship tribunal will be sitting at High Court 3 beside Grand Hotel, Asaba, while the National Assembly/House of Assembly Petitions tribunal will be sitting at High Court 5, also in Asaba.
Barrister Abubakar said the inaugural sitting of the tribunal will take place soon as the tribunals are time bound.
