The Global Initiative Support Group (GISG) for Sheriff 2027 has begun its grassroots mobilisation drive across Delta State with the inauguration of coordinators and canvassers in the 25 local government areas, ahead of the 2027 general elections.

The group, which is mobilising support for President Bola Tinubu, Governor Sheriff Oborevwori and other All Progressives Congress (APC) candidates, inaugurated its state-wide mobilisation structure on Friday in Ughelli.

The event attracted APC leaders, political stakeholders, women and youth leaders, members of the group from across the state and representatives of its diaspora chapter.

Performing the inauguration on behalf of the Delta State APC Chairman, Chief Solomon Arenyeka, the Delta South Senatorial Chairman, Chief Emmanuel Amgbaduba, described the establishment of the group as a significant step towards strengthening the party’s grassroots presence.

Amgbaduba commended the convener, Olorogun Festus Ahon, the chairman, Chief Josiah Ntekume, and other members for building a mobilisation network with structures across the 25 local government areas and among Deltans in the diaspora.

He attributed the growing support for the group to the performance of the Oborevwori administration, pointing to developments in infrastructure, healthcare, education and other critical sectors.

According to him, several communities previously challenged by poor road access are now witnessing major construction activities, while improvements in public institutions and social infrastructure demonstrate the administration’s commitment to development.

He also highlighted the introduction of the 13th-month salary for state civil servants as evidence of the governor’s commitment to workers’ welfare.

The APC chieftain, however, urged the newly inaugurated coordinators and canvassers to ensure that their mobilisation efforts covered all APC candidates, including those contesting for senatorial, House of Representatives and State House of Assembly seats.

He charged members at the senatorial, local government, ward and unit levels to return to their communities, engage voters directly and strengthen the party’s structures ahead of the elections.

Amgbaduba urged them not to be distracted by opposition activities but to remain focused on their mobilisation responsibilities, expressing confidence that the APC would record victory in 2027.

In his remarks, the convener of GISG and Chief Press Secretary to Governor Oborevwori, Olorogun Festus Ahon, said the initiative was established by his friends across the globe to mobilise support for the governor’s re-election and the success of other APC candidates.

Ahon described the assignment as a grassroots-driven campaign, urging the newly inaugurated officials to adopt door-to-door mobilisation and direct engagement with voters.

He challenged them to move beyond political meetings and take the campaign to individual wards and polling units, where they could interact with residents and communicate the achievements and programmes of the APC-led governments.

The Chief Press Secretary reaffirmed the group’s commitment to securing support for Tinubu, Oborevwori and all APC candidates, expressing optimism that the party would achieve a five-over-five victory in the 2027 elections.

He said the Oborevwori administration’s interventions in education, healthcare, infrastructure and other sectors provided a strong basis for the group’s mobilisation efforts.

Earlier, the chairman of GISG, Chief Josiah Ntekume, said the inauguration represented a major milestone in the group’s determination to establish an effective political mobilisation network throughout Delta State.

He urged the coordinators and canvassers to demonstrate unity, commitment and dedication in taking the group’s message to every ward and polling unit.

Ntekume also acknowledged the contributions of APC leaders, members and supporters, particularly those in the diaspora, towards building the organisation, expressing confidence that the newly inaugurated structure would strengthen its capacity to achieve its political objectives.

Dignitaries at the event included the APC State Organising Secretary, Hon. Emmanuel Egbabor; Hon. Abel Oshevire; Comrade Ologe Elijah; and the Executive Assistant to the Governor on Media, Dr Nelson Egware, among other party leaders and stakeholders.
