Warri Peace Ambassadors Endorse Mulade for Reps Seat, Call for Ethnic Unity

By Francis Sadhere Warri

A pressure group under the aegis of the Warri Peace Ambassadors has endorsed a leading House of Representatives aspirant for Warri Federal Constituency, Chief (Comrade) Mulade Sheriff, PhD, ahead of the 2027 general elections.

The group also called for unity among the Ijaw, Itsekiri and Urhobo ethnic nationalities as political activities continue to gather momentum ahead of the polls.

In a statement jointly signed by the President and Secretary of the group, Mrs. Tessy Oki and Mr. Friday Ugedi respectively, the Warri Peace Ambassadors described the 2027 elections as a crucial opportunity for the people to elect competent and credible leaders capable of advancing the collective interests of the constituency.

According to the group, Chief Mulade Sheriff remains the most suitable candidate for the Warri Federal Constituency seat in the National Assembly based on his track record of grassroots advocacy, accessibility and commitment to peacebuilding.

“For us, the Warri Peace Ambassadors, the 2027 general elections is not just another season of electioneering. We are committed to performing our civic duty of mobilizing and voting credible political leaders at the different strata of government,” the statement read.

“The 2027 general elections present to us once again another golden opportunity for truly patriotic citizens to choose competent leaders that are capable of representing their general interests, and Chief Sheriff Mulade is the right choice for the Warri Federal Constituency seat in the National Assembly.”

The group noted that after carefully assessing the various aspirants contesting for the seat, it resolved to throw its weight behind Mulade, whom it described as a grassroots politician with proven leadership qualities.

“Our position of advocating support for Chief Mulade is centered on his long years of grassroots advocacy for the people of Warri Federal Constituency and beyond. His antecedents speak louder. He is a household name at the grassroots and a leader that is easily accessible to members of his constituency,” the group added.

The Warri Peace Ambassadors further highlighted Mulade’s contributions towards fostering peaceful coexistence among the ethnic groups in the constituency, describing him as a bridge builder and advocate of unity.

“More importantly, Chief Mulade stands for peaceful coexistence among the Ijaw, Itsekiri and Urhobo ethnic nationalities in the Warri Federal Constituency. As a United Nations peace ambassador and a bridge builder, he has over the years employed the instrumentality of sports and education to unite the people,” the statement said.

The group therefore urged members and supporters of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) and residents of Warri Federal Constituency to rally support for Mulade’s candidacy in the interest of effective representation and development.

“This is not a call based on sentiment, but one centered on competence, capability, exposure and practical field knowledge to deliver efficient and effective representation to the people of Warri Federal Constituency. Warri residents should not miss this golden opportunity. It is time for a positive change in the Warri Federal Constituency,” the group concluded.
