Edjeba Ward Passes Confidence Vote on Gov. Oborevwori, Warri South Council Chairman, Agbateyinro
Members of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) in Edjeba Ward, Warri South Local Government Area of Delta, have passed a vote of confidence on Delta State Governor, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori, and the Warri South Council Chairman, Hon. Weyinmi Isaac Agbateyinro, in recognition of their commendable leadership and efforts in advancing the state and local government.
The confidence vote was held during a meeting of the ward leaders, which took place at the country home of Dr. Michael Tidi, the immediate past chairman of Warri South Council.
Tidi, who chaired the gathering, expressed his full support for the Governor and the Council Chairman, emphasizing that the vote of confidence was not just a symbolic gesture but an important message of encouragement for the leaders to continue their good work.
“I want to reaffirm my confidence in our leaders, particularly our Governor, and the work they are doing. A vote of confidence is not just a formality—it’s a message of encouragement. We want our leaders to continue the good work they’ve started, and we want them to know that we support them,” Tidi said. “We must always pray for our leaders, as the Bible teaches us. Pray for the Governor, for the President, for our political leaders, and for our country. Through prayer, support, and active participation, we will continue to move forward.”
The gathering also served as a platform for reflecting on the importance of elections, particularly local government elections, which some had initially dismissed as insignificant.
Tidi stressed the vital role women play in elections and leadership, stressing that true progress is only achievable when everyone, especially women, participates in the political process.
“Without women, we cannot truly progress. Their voices and leadership are crucial. The saying ‘no man, no election’ has deep meaning—it’s not just about the men; it’s about everyone, especially women, coming forward to be part of the process,” Tidi remarked.
In addition, Tidi emphasized the importance of unity within the party, stating that no leader can succeed without the support of their followers. He called on party members to rally behind their leaders and work together for the collective good. “Leadership is not about titles; it’s about how we carry the weight of responsibility for the future,” he added.
Former Warri South Councilor and leader of the Warri South Legislative Arm, Hon. Sylvester Ejabor, also spoke at the event, urging party members to stand firm with their leaders in order to attract more people to the party and ensure future success. He stressed the importance of working together to strengthen the party’s presence in the region.
Chief Dickson Obirenfoju, the former party chairman, echoed these sentiments, calling for a return to the era when PDP leaders were trusted and respected by the people. He noted that such unity and trust were critical for the party’s resurgence and long-term success.
The meeting concluded with unanimous support for the confidence vote passed on Governor Oborevwori and Chairman Agbateyinro. Attendees expressed their commitment to working together to advance the goals of the party and ensure continued progress in the state and local government.
This vote of confidence comes as a significant endorsement of the leadership of Governor Oborevwori and Chairman Agbateyinro. This is showing the growing unity and support within the PDP in Warri South and the broader Delta State political landscape.
